Serious accomplishment! To put into perspective, I just skimmed over the WAF results since 1998 (WAF site, World of Armwrestling, Armsports). You are in a very small group of American men (10) who have won a WAF World Title in the Senior class. The others are: Vazgen Soghoyan 60kg '07 & '08 Ron Bath left 100kg '06 Jim Bryan right and left 95kg '05 Cleve Dean left 105+kg '05 James Battles right 95kg '04(Russian was DQ'd) Travis Bagent right 110+ '03 Andrew Rhodes right 75kg '99 & '00 Jerry Cadorette right 110kg '00 Dan Victor left arm 110kg '00
Were there two WAF championships in 2003? I found one in Russia and one in Canada. What is the deal?

For a very long time there were two WAF events going each year, it was several years ago when their then President Humberto from Brazil left that other WAF to come to the current large one, that year they did not hold a world event as I recall. Though according to the Wall Street Journal reporter that other WAF has been holding world events these last several years.

I found one in Russia and one in Canada. What is the deal? Scott Fleming won the WAF that still continues today, in 05 after Klimenko tested positive! from 98 till 03 both were worth to be called WAF but after 03 only the one that is still being held ,has been with over 20-30-40 countries while the other was held for 2 more years (04-05) with only a few countries. following 6 years there were 2 tough WAFs considered as Worlds by me; 98 WAF Egypt was much tougher than Canada 99 WAF Russia was tougher than Japan 00 WAFs were equally tough 01 WAF Italy was a bit tougher than Poland 02 WAF Egypt was a bit tougher than USA 03 WAF Canada was tougher than Russia after 03 the one that still continues today, has been the only WAF (JMO).

what Dave Chaffee did last weekend was a GREAT JOB! he won one of the toughest class by deserving! he should become an inspiration to US pullers as Dave showed that nothing is impossible! i would love to see Dave competing WAFs for more years to honour his country as he did last weekend.
Dave has a big heart!

Ok, thanks Engin. I sure am glad there aren't two WAF's anymore! That's kind of silly. Here are a few others that have won: Mike Selearis John Brzenk Al Leger Fred Decker Jeff Tomchesson Michael Moore David Bauer
Rick Soliwada has more medals than any other American. He placed 2nd to a Russian at least 4-5 times.

That Russian Soliwoda placed 2nd to all those times was none other than Roman Tsindeliani.
