Weekend of April 30th Tournaments List 1) THE UAL 2) Contraband Days 3) USAA Super Show, Orlando 4) Outer Banks, NC 5) Big Apple Grapple, New York City These are all major events. 3 of them being in the Southeast region Is it just me?? Are we trying to kill our own tournaments?? Let's face it, most will go where it's more convenient and cheaper.

It always happens. When I put contraband up on the board there were no other tournaments and now there are like five others. But oh well, I tried I'm sure each tournament is going to have a fair amount of entries.

A lot of people have been talking about this. It's a shame, because every one of these is a great event and I hate to see any of them get watered down.
The flip side is that this sport has come a long way. It's nearly impossible to get a good weekend with no major tournaments 3 weeks before or after. This is a great day for our sport if you look at it that way.

I agree John I do think that when looking for a date you should not only see what tournaments are going on but how close to your venue they are, I think the NC,FL and Contraband tourney will have a big impact on each other , I think the UAL is going to draw big name pullers from everywhere and will have an effect on all of them but not major.

I thought the outer banks event was the 23rd? The tourney was orginally planned for the 23rd, but since Easter Sunday is the 24th, there were some issues with folks not being able to make it. So it was pushed back a week..

Tim,
This has always been happening. Many events on the same weekend. Its just that now with the internet we all know about it.
IMO the internet has put AW in a funk when it comes to growing. Promoters now only rely on the internet for getting the word out. Which only hits current AW's. We have stopped putting up flyers in supermarkets and gyms and hitting the newspapers and radio to promote events and find new talent.
I know some promoters probably still do these things but most dont.
It should not matter that their are many different events because every promoter should only rely on a drivable radios for their entries.

The UAL had no option on the date as we were working with a major Casino and that was the date they chose. Check out www.TheUAL.com tomorrow for the 7 UNREAL Super Matches for this upcoming event! Bob - We do a Mailer campaign and a face book campaign along with the use of the internet. Harrahs is doing a email blast to over 1 million people in their data base, that will bring out a great audience and the show will make fans out of them! We are excited to show the People "Ultimate Armwrestling"

at this time i dont have the $$ to drive across the contry to a tourney or fly to one im limited to a 10 hour radius so yes what ever i can afford untill things change chop put his date up early last year he isnt competing aginst anyone and i believe that most of the new york, north carolina and florida residents have the same $$ problem and wont be able to make it down this far
also i dont know about you but i have tried to hand out flyers last year i went to at least 15 gyms in are area and not one person from any of them showed most guys in the gym today are scared and would rather work out to look like a jersey shore wanna be rather then have actual strength i have a tourney 2 weeks from now and have handed out at least a 100 flyers and i hope that at least 10 show up

I hand out flyers to all the biggins and strong looking people that come into my shop..... Funny none of those folks ever come...... The new folks that show up or call are usually from the net....., TK
