Hopefully Tero the finnish armwrestling fan or some finnish armwrestler knows more and can answer. Tero, when you see this please straight things out for us! Hi Charlie, Unfortunately I don't know any better the current imaginable -70 kg situation who the best is. IMO the winner would be Topi. Historically speaking being the lighter man and in his class at -70 kg and based on previous results the answer is Topi. But who knows? I think we need a -70 kg super match at Arm Wars. Why you make so difficult questions Charlie?

on American soil Cobra beat Engin (4 times) at 2000 Harley pull (i was 150 pounds in 165 pounds class)..i beat him lefty but unlike some others i do not count left hand wins against right hand legends.. the light weight overall was; 1. Cobra 2. myself 3. Bongard 4. Selerais Soliwada beat Engin at 2005 Vegas..i am 7-2 against him (beat him at two different harley pulls, ohio state and vegas) Bongard beat Engin once on fouls but i am 2-1 against him.. Jason Remer once beat Engin but i think i am 12-1 against him..(beat him in pull for the hungry,2000 & 2005 fort randalls, and in nebraska events right & left) 7 months after winning WAF super heavyweight with left,Eric Woelfel once beat me (i was 63kg-139 pounds) lefty in 97 Tahoe and once righty in 2001 Harley Pull.. John Brzenk beat me at 97 and 03 Tahoe events Kenny Hughes at 80kg-176 beat me at 70kg-154 lefty at 03 Tahoe (once on fouls and the other is after a long pull that i toprolled him but he won by dead wrist) when i pulled 2 left classes (i also beat him once). i am 5-3 against him. Mike O'Hara once beat me lefty but i am 5-1 against him. Ron Bath beat me at 2001 Harley. Don Underwood beat me once righty, but i think i am 4-1 against him. Michael Todd twice beat me (in fact first match i flashed him but was called foul on him and when he realised that he can not hook me then he applied dead wrist pull and once he won on fouls while the other one he won after a long pull).he was 90kg while i was 68kg. in 230 pounds class (105kg) Sonny Larson beat me 6 days after i pulled vegas event (i was 154 pounds),when i pulled 7 classes in 2005 fort randall event.i have also beat him in an earlier fort randall (2003) and nebraska events (1999). as far as i know between 1993-2005 i have not lost any event against any American who weighed as much as i did.

Dan Victor beat me lefty only some months after he won WAF,at Harley pull.in fact we were finger to finger but he did a forward shoulder press to win (the pads were crossed to eachother and should press was extra effective when you weighed twice heavier of your opponent).
Mike Bowling and one puller from Ohio who was heavier than me beat me lefty in ohio state overalls.

Yours less known achievements besides your famous 9 Waf golds and 8 Eaf golds are still nothing but AMAZING Engin!!!!!!! Before 2001 you were unbelievable for your weight Engin (considering that you beat a lot of top pullers who weighed much more than you in those years!!!), and even after a bad injury you still have managed to be one of the bests in the world of your weight class for many years!! And you still are European champion after your 20 years career, IMO one of the bests armwrestling careers ever.

I got some more information about Topi and Mikkola from the finnish armwrestler Kim Söderholm.
Ok, almost directly translated... Kim said that Timo Mikkola is about 60-40 to Topi, since Timo knows exactly how Topi pulls and Timo is more flexible as an armwrestler and can therefore do more on the table, while Topi just does his hook move. Both of them beat most of the finnish armwrestlers no matter the weight class, but Timo still beats those who Topi can't beat. Both are in top shape now and especially Topi considering his weight class internationally. They will both go to Nemiroff!
About Mikkola's weight. According to Kim, Timo dieted for 70 kg cause he wanted to try if he could keep his strength at that weight. Things went quite well but he got some stomach problems, which what I understood from Kim was a problem for Timo during the competition. Timo was very disappointed with the results and said it was the first and last time in that weight class at Worlds. He will keep pulling -75 kg internationally and -75 in national overall events.

I didn't write that you were an armwrestling fan, but I guess your point is that you are a fan and not a competitive armwrestler. I actually didn't know that. You should have made it a question for this thread.

Yes, that was exactly my point so you don't make the same mistake never again and trouble me with mentioning my name when it comes to armwrestling knowledge about Finland. If I were an armwrestler you would find my name somewhere on the results sheets. I'm 39 years of age so who knows maybe grand masters someday in the future? btw, It was a good question. I am curious though what did you have in mind when you wrote that question? Have you pulled them both? And Eric, how did you come to the conclusion the answer is Topi Saaranluoma? Charlie, what is the final answer? Did Eric get it right?

I didn't have anything in mind except what I wrote in the question - I wondered who the best below 70 kg in Finland was. I think Topi is an awesome armwrestler but he hasn't pulled internationally as much as other armwrestlers in his caliber and surprisingly few know who he is. And I just think people should know who he is.. but of course.. after this Nemiroff people will.. He will fix that all by himself I'm sure! The final answer is as I said to Eric, that Topi is considered the best below 70 kg in Finland. I can't say it's 100% sure that Timo Mikkola can never beat him when he is at that weight but Topi is "officially" accepted as the best at that weight.

- Which year did John Brzenk receive the Bill Soberanes Memorial Award?
A. 2003 B. 2005 C. 2007 D. 2009
- Which match was awarded the longest match of the event at World Armwrestling Championships for students 2005? Name one of the competitors.
- The swede Roine Eklund won the European Championships three years in a row. Mention one of those years.
- What was the name of the light weight World champion armwrestler from Georgia who tragically was killed in a motorcycle accident?
- These are my guesses to the all time best swedes. The prime years of each armwrestler is noted after the names.
1. Andreas Rundström (1996-1997) 2. Johan Lindholm (2006) 3. ?? (1997) 4. Sharon Remez (2009, as a swede) 5. Dick Ivars (2000-2003?) 6. Krister Jonsson (2001) or Magnus Samuelsson (1995)
Who should be on 3rd place? This guy beat Dick Ivars, Sharon Remez and David Tchelidze, among others, at Golden Arm 1997.
(note: when Sharon was an Israeli citizen in 1991 I think he would have beaten all in that list)
- Who is the founder of JAWA?
- What is the real name of "The Beef"?
- Name one armwrestler except John Brzenk that competed at both the Las Vegas events Super Classic VIII in 1985 and Ultimate Armwrestling 2004.
- Who was the 8th competitor that cancelled his participation at the 2001 Professional Armwrestling League in Poland 2001?
- Which american armwrestler won the 110 kg class with right arm at Worlds in Greece 1989?
- Name two armwrestling brothers from Netherlands.
- Except Sharon Remez, who was the best Israeli armwrestler in the early 90´s with right arm?
- This is not a world level question, but here it is anyway. What year was the first Swedish Nationals held? (as we have proof for)... 1933, 1943, 1953, 1963, 1973 or 1983?
- Pascal Girard was one of the winners of the "toughest match of the event"-awards at ARM WARS 2002 in Manchester. Who was his opponent?
- Who is the best left handed armwrestler Aaron Lengyel has beaten at a competition?
- Who used a chalk bucket as a riser at one of the Yukon Jack events when there was no risers left for him when he needed it?
- Name two armwrestlers from Australia.
- Which heavy weight match at Yukon Jack 1995 was the longest?

Engin....that was a qusetion for others...not for you...lmfao...btw when did you beat kenny left 5 times? i did not beat him lefty 5 times,i am 5-3 at total.i pulled him when he was 16 at lake tahoe and 17 ay WWC (he was good enough to take 2. place behind me at WWC - i was 135 pounds and he was 150 pounds and i pulled 5 classes while he pulled 2 classes),then he took 4. place in my class when i won main event in Idaho 1998 (i was 143 and he was 154) then we pulled at tahoe in 03. first i started to pull 154s against Rick Steffans and Devin Bair, then i pulled 176s i am not sure but i may have pulled Chandler and John Parton.then pulled and toprolled Kenny in strap.after a long pull he won with dead wrist.then i beat the rest in B side and then beat Kenny in the first match of the final.at the last match we went into deep hook and just stucked there but my elbow slided out from the side of the pad (pads were not angled to eachother but were crossed) and i thought it was an elbow foul for me but Leonard told me to continue pulling.i thought it was ok to pull in such position but then i learned about " running foul rule" ;D it was a bitter lesson as such thing never happenned with me before and i lost with 2 fouls in one position so considering me pulling double left hand class and weighing 22 pounds lighter than Kenny, just gave me some ideas about us pulling fresh matches at same weight i know he is your buddy but that time he was 23 years old,not 17 ask him,he will tell you how the matches went in those conditions..
