What is the best way to drop 5 pounds of water weight without losing strength? Before you answer, keep in mind that weigh ins start at 10:00AM, with pulling starting at 1:00PM the same day. I've cut weight more times than I care to remember as a wrestler growing up, but I always had longer time to recuperate. Any tips on how to do it with a short turnaround?

Bathtub as hot as you can stand it. Lay in it completely submerged (or at least your torso), except for your face. Do 10 minutes in, then 5 minutes out in cool or room temperature room. You will generally lose a little over a pound every 10 minutes. Here's the article: www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2008/01/18/how-to-cut-weight/If weigh-ins are early, you should be able to get within a few pounds the night before and sleep off the rest. Make sure to read the section about re-hydrating. That's where people make the BIGGEST mistakes. I usually use Pedialyte.

I read that link Chris and think it is very helpful, I just don't think I want to drink diluted hand lotion during the recovery phase...

I heard if you soak in a bath with rock salt it can suck up to 10lbs of water weight out of you. If you do this the night before you have a pretty good window to rehydrate.

Same morning weigh ins suck. I always make sure to weight 219 the morning of. So you can eat a protien bar and 16 ounces of fluids on the way. One tournament I was 221 in the morning and didn't eat or drink til weigh in, already being dehydrated it didn't workout well. It took me half way thru the tournament to get my strength. Lost to people I killed later in the tourney.

I don't think I'd chance it with only 3 hours to rehydrate yourself. I tried to do it with only 1-2 hours recently and my blood sugar never got to normal until sometime during the after pulling. From now on I am gonna try to walk around at my pulling weight.
