What is the longest match ever, for which video exists? I've heard claims of matches from 30+ years ago lasting 20 or more minutes, but I suspect these claims have become exaggerated over time. Also, when someone is involved in or sees a long match live, I think many overestimate the actual length of the match. Really, is anyone actually keeping track of match lengths with a stopwatch? I don't think so.
The longest match on video that I've seen is the Crazy George/Anthony Dall'Antonia match from this past Canadian Nationals. I've also seen the long matches between George and Ron Klemba, George and Vepkia, George and Artem, and George and others.
Does anyone know of any other matches that are in excess of 10 minutes of actual pulling time, and have the video?

Heard Patton and someone (whitfield or Janning maybe) pulled for 18 minutes. Saw a 176lb Sinks pull Norm Devio for more than 8 minutes in a hook. Then watched Bill win the 176 class and the overall at that tournament (see the endurance thread). I want to say it was Cape Cod Invitational in 1999.

Supposedly, Steve Lusby and Earl Moffner pulled for 27 consecutive minutes. Ouch...for a few years.

I saw the match with George and Vepkia in person in 04, that was ridiculous and back then I had no idea what was even going on on that George had a reputation for such matches.

01 AAAs..Walter Garude vs Randy Stanaway....over 12 mins, then a restart for just as long...... That's the longest one I ever saw. I don't know if it was filmed, but Yoshi Kanai vs Cvetan Gashevski at the National Pro-Am in Tahoe. (01 or 02 ?). Neil Pickup may have video. He was there along with Pascal Girard and Elaine. Andy too I think. Yoshi had a number of long matches that day. The man is a warrior!

01 AAAs..Walter Garude vs Randy Stanaway....over 12 mins, then a restart for just as long...... I didnt know about this one but I believe it. Randy Stanaway vs Ray Berry back in like 1987.....there is a video of it on ARMTV. I think it was 17-20 minutes long and I think the ARMTV video didnt even get all of it...couple restarts I think. Randy had Rays wrist flopped and could not pin him, then Ray would surge to stay in the match....and the REPEAT...for 20 MINUTES. Crazy. Randy Stanaway! Ray Berry! How long was it exactly?

This is a very interesting thread Really, is anyone actually keeping track of match lengths with a stopwatch? Everybody can do it for sure in general and those match that are filmed in a "full length" could be counted afterwards..but i think there is no official regulations about it so far (not sure?).the problem with this could be that people (not talking about honest athletes) could extent a match intentionally once they would be an official price or regulation for that but i think besides of that it would be very interesting for the whole boat. Maybe we can give some kids or persons at events from now a stopwatch with a super cool shirt. ;D. this could get more interesting i guess..what you think?.But i am not saying its gonna be an easy job at all. ;D...this would add some extra-fun in tournaments with an extra trophy for the longest match of the tourney. cool thread anyway. i would like to see those matches mentioned above ... A.K

The longest match I've ever seen was Pascal Girard vs Yivgeny Prudnyk at 2009 EAC. It's less than 10 minutes long but seems like taking forever. I can't find the video now...

tiberiu.....so you say this is a ten min match....yet the video is only 8:52 sec long...it took them 30 sec for the first set up slip then 20 for the 2nd slip....took a break at 1:40....in reality this was ''only a 6 min match...40% less then what you say it was....my point is people think matches are longer then they really are....i seen dave owens sr pull 6 min and 30sec match NO BREAKS they said go and then 6min 30 sec later dave won....
