The topic of armwrestling becoming an Olympic sport has been discussed many times going back almost 50 years. I once read a newspaper article from 1964 where Bill Soberanes (of the Petaluma World Wristwrestling Championships) said that wristwrestling could possibly be a demonstration sport in the Olympics by 1980.
I’m curious. For those of you who are very hopeful that the sport gets into the Olympics one day, why is this important to you?

I would love to see more funding, sponsorships, television coverage for the sport. When arm wrestling tables can be mass produced & sold at an economic price in sporting good locations I think the sport will explode. An arm wrestling table really should be a common household item. Seriously.. = )
I'm tired of going to friend's houses, where they all have beer pong tables but no arm wrestling table.

You put people like me,You, neil, simon and james r.together on waf as an olympic exec group and see what happens..... No offense but if we cant even have a communication with anybody on fila nor ioc ofcourse this will never happen..... Waf has too much control focused policy.... This does not help the sport....

I think it's important for the sport to reach the masses and get recognition as a true sport. Athletes poor time, money, resources, sweat, and emotion into competition. It would be rewarding to receive an Olympic medal and recognition. It would also make the playing field more balanced. This would be an answer to the ever popular juicing contrevercy. Arm wrestling is a sport and deserves to be separated from a barroom pastime. It would be nice to eliminate the sarcastic remarks and misconceptions.

With out Passion and dedication we can not for sure. Money is not as big of an issue to get things started. I have been asking to see the minutes of the meeting btw Waf and Fila, and it is not given to us yet for years
