Just wondering any arm wrestling smokers out there? If so how long have you been pulling and what effect has it done to your arm wrestling / stamina on the table and in the gym.
Thought this might be a interesting topic to discuss. I been smoking for 8 years, i even smoke when I'm training in meets. Bad for me? Most likely so i know i might have to quit real soon.

Losing your wind (lung capacity) is the least of ur worries in aw'ing. Smoking greatly decreases collagen synthesis. If you realize the purpose of this function.. You ll realize how detrimental it is to an aw'er

I just ate a half rack of six baby back racks I smoked this past Saturday. Delicious! Probably just as bad for my heart as a pack of cigarettes, but at least I get some protein out of it.
I started smoking cigarettes steadily b/t 1/2 and 1 pack a day when I was 13. Awful, I know. I would layoff during football and wrestling season and resort to chewing tobacco (equally horrible). I'm 33 now. Luckily, I somehow managed to have my last dip of tobacco in June of 2008, and my last cigarette April 18, 2010. I did resort to the nicotine gum when I was in a situation where all my mind could think about was a smoke or a dip (e.g., in the car, or after a couple beers, playing cards, etc.) I hope somehow you find a way to quit. My inspiration was my family. I want to be around for them.
Aside from it having a negative impact on your armwrestling, which it most certainly does, it will slowly kill you. I'm not judging, and am certainly not "holier than thou." I know lots of people who smoke. I think it's a personal choice, just like my eating ribs, or a pizza. But, of course, I don't eat like that everyday, and I can combat bad cholesterol with a relatively steady diet of foods/substances that help elevate good cholesterol/scrub bad cholesterol and get lots of exercise.
Good luck, man.

Smoking is bad for you in many ways. I think we all know that, but what most people don't know is that even though you may feel the effects of smoking on your ability to breath or get winded during your 1st 10 years of smoking, the decline gets very steep after that. COPD is considered a mostly smokers concern. Not much fun trying to walk around with an inhaler and oxygen tank. Could get in the way at the armwrestling table. ;-)
