So i had a random idea today. What if we all settled on one day of the year where everyone does SOMETHING to raise the awareness of this sport. If that means you tell one person at the gym or the supermarket about AW then so be it or if it means you host a tournament then that goes too. I feel that if we are all so serious about this sport we can atleast do ONE thing a year to help it grow. I just thought that maybe if we labeled a day for it then it would get people more motivated to get out there and promote our sport a bit more.
Maybe an Arm Wrestling Awareness Month?
If we got to the point where EVERY puller knows that they need to do something on November 22nd (for example) then maybe they will get that extra motivation they need to potentially bring one person in the sport.
I would love to hear what you guys have to say or think about this idea. If this idea has already been proposed then i am sorry. I think it would be neat to see a thread titled 'International Arm Wrestling Day Today: What did you do?' where everyone shares what they did for our sport today.
I am kinda interested in why some people will think this wont help/work. I am in no way trying to belittle anyones efforts or love for the sport, people to tons more for this sport then i could ever dream of. I honestly cant see a downside to having this though.
Thanks for checking this out guys. Just wanna help blow this thing up! ;D

that type of method is very cultish.
Armwrestling doesn't cure cancer. And it doesn't save souls. No one cares about armwrestling.
Those who do already know or will on their own.
We all know that guy who is obviously naturally gifted for the sport and could be a great talent. But they have no drive to train or put in what it takes to compete and will never go to an event...... Because he doesn't care. No drive to compete at anything. A result of the emasculation of america.
^ there's a great idea.... Host an armwrestling tournament designed to raise awareness for the "emasculation of America"
Sounds political and medical at the same time. But really your calling everyone P****'s

so basically what i get from this post of yours is you dont think armwrestlers do enough??? and from what i also get from this post is You do alot??? i think this post iss a tad disrespectful to be honest, im not sure if you were half frunk or bored or just wwanted to get a rise out of some people, well whatever it was you were searching for you found it. each and every armwrestler out there does his or her part on a daily basis, some actually do quite a bit more than all of us. Robert Drenk, Bill Collins, Gary Roberts, Kenneth Leach, Don Underwood, Travis Bagent, John Milne, Devon Larrett, the list goes on and on....
i find it really rude that you would start a thread with a hidden message that says "im derek and i do everything for this sport and all of you do nothing".... armwrestlers do pleanty for this sport with hardly any return.. so before you come on here and pretty much say that no one does anything but you.. why dont you take a look around and you will see that 99% of the athletes in this sport do more than enough to let everyone know about this sport.... next time you wanna disrespect armwrestlers, just write it down on a piece of paper and then throw it away.

Just wanna help blow this thing up! ;D Hello Derek, For me it sounds very positive and i like your idea a lot. You wrote that it "could promote our sport a bit more"...well it definitely would once Athletes/Promoters take it as an addition as it should be to the things that all Aw.s & Promoters and so on already do.Its very cool and i see nothing wrong (some might have miss-understand your intentions or expression...don´t know) with it to have a special day called: "International Day of Armwrestling". ..sounds great.I see a lot of extra chance & opportunity in it. anyway...very nice your dedication & fresh-ideas Derek. @all AW-friends: I think in general that it would be easier for all and for Armwrestling-development to not compare each & every thread with what i or you or he or she already do/done or not done...that way we would draw more effective ideas for everyone in the sport instead of probably discouraging each other in the end as a result of most conversation in this "Comparing" form does. The outcome of this idea could be great if you/we could then use it officially to go to schools and talk about Armwrestling to kids and young athletes with some kind of added fun remembering them that "Today is the international day of Armwrestling" ....some of them would laugh (and that would be very good ) but it would still draw additional good attention for Armwrestling...just a quick example... there are many more things what we can do with it...Great idea. Btw guys: Did you know that there is also nowadays an "International day of awesomeness" ;D dayofawesomeness.com/ on the birthday of Chuck Norris. So why not having an "International day of Armwrestling" on a birthday of an "Armwrestling Legend" or "First-Promoters" or "you say something...." to give additional credit to a person from the Armwrestling-world to the world also? 1-Which day should it be ?? 2-How you want to work it out to make it official??... 3-Maybe a Homepage?? (any ideas Derek or others??)..this could work good if done properly. thank you everybody...keep up the good work. A.K

I think its a great idea. We should make a holiday. We athletes do what we can to promote the sport, and a day out of the year dedicated to us sounds like an honor. It can be an extra opportunity to help our efforts to grow the sport.

It was not my intention whatsoever. Thank you AK for thinking about the possibilities. I think for us to have a set day out of the year it will just be one added push to get more people into the sport. I know lots of people already do alot so im hope they wouldnt mind it. All i want is to see this sport go huge. ;D

Im all for seeing this sport grow, but comments like this are what make me want to throw up.... an Armwrestling Holiday? ? cmon man......that is beyond ruffles and soft pillows with rose pedals on the ground...nobody knows what armwrestling is and you wanna make it a holiday? ? i would be embaressed to walk up to my friend and say "HEY BILLY, ITS ARMWRESTLING DAY COME CELEBRATE WITH US!!" everyone in this sport does his and her part, we dont need a holiday to remind us to encourage people to come to events or give armwrestling a try... i literally threw up when i read this thread.. just let armwrestling be itself we dont need a holiday or a special day to remind us of how great this sport is. sport go huge. ;D

Not a holiday. A day where everyone collectively tries to grow the sport we all love and wish was bigger. I dont expect people to miss school or work. I am surprised that someone could actually come up with a reason that they WOULD NOT want a international promote arm wrestling day. Because you dont like the sound of it? talk about getting in the way of ourselves.
