Meador...
I know I'm a crappy puller who can't beat anyone ....
But my point is Pete, James all them guys have a huge impact on this. "Sport " and I'd rather see their energy used in better ways.. I'm in no way trying to start a fight with anyone by this thread..

Mike, Thanks for the compliment but James and I both probably will never put on an event ever again. The sport changed enough to where I decided to stop pulling and it got bad enough to where now I don't even want to put on events.
Sorry.

I know you would John. Problem is the new generation is driving alot of us out. Sad thing is that most of them aren't even good.

What are us new guys doing more specifically to make you not want to put on events? Is it what we say on the board? Or the way we act at events? Or something else.
I dont know you Pete i mean no disrespect (since most posts from newer guys have that feel) but it seems like some of the people that leave the sport are taking the words on this board to seriously. Its most often just some puller who is bored and feels like 'stirring the pot' with some opinion. That shouldnt make people want to leave the sport though, IMO. I believe it shows growth actually, new blood coming into the sport is always a good thing right? regardless of how lost and confused they are. We all have one thing in common..... We all love AW.... So none of us should leave this sport because of some other peoples opinions or actions, IMO.
You and James (and im sure other top figures who are backing out of AW) have done so much for the sport and obviously care/cared for it immensely. There are some of us that truly respect your efforts and opinions and appreciate the things you say and do. Dont let the 'Lost Boys' ruin AW for you/us.

Younger, newer pullers have unwarranted confidence. Irreverent disrespect to many seasoned pullers. Until you get to the national level, you don't have a concept of what it takes to be a champ. Forget competing at a world stage.
Anybody who is on that level deserves respect, and unfortunately doesn't get it. For anybody to question the ability of guys like Devon, Tim, or Arsen who hasn't put in the time or achieved the success they have is like a little leaguer questioning the lack of movement in Nolan Ryan's heater. Stupid talk.
This sport is becoming (mind you I've been in it about 1.5 years) "look at me""next big thing" and "imma badass" instead of "good pulling, can't wait for another go around with you at the next event". When a schmuck can get more airtime and more press than a guy who busts his ass training and achieving success, then something is wrong with our sport. Since it is becoming more important to get attention as opposed to gain greatness, why would the "been there, done that" guys want to participate?
I see where somebody like Pete is coming from, and he is right. This sport can not be accepted by the public when it's most lackluster participants get "supermatches", and promoters make the show about themselves. Not to mention the fact that those who blazed a trail of competition and promotion are not seen within our own community as valued members, rather as washed up has beens.
Something isn't right when a guy who doesn't have the talent to win a minor state title can disrespectfully question the opinion, character and accomplishments of guys like Tim, or Pete, or Travis.
We are our own worst enemy.

We are our own worst enemy. The same thing happens in all sports though. There are fat guys wearing Lebron James's jersey on their couch's swearing to everyone they know 'That Lebron just needs to do this and that to win, he needs to dig down deep' etc. You dont see anyone leaving basketball or any other major sports. You simply mark them down as ignorant haters and keep moving forward. Why does anyone care what some new guy who has not achieved anything or paid any dues thinks anyway? Hell, im new as well and i dont care what he thinks......

At 1.5 years, do you consider yourself a "younger, newer" puller with "unwarranted confidence"? At 2 years, am I a "younger, newer" puller with "unwarranted confidence" that shows "irreverent disrespect to many seasoned pullers"?

John Schnell kinda gets it.
Me and Tim talk about this alot. Recently as last night. When we came into this sport, both at different times, we came in with a mouth shut and eyes and ears open approach. We paid our dues, took our lumps and EARNED our respect from out peers. Nowadays, like John said, anyone who acts like an ass gets to became a message board sensation but yet still can't even pull his way out of a wet paper bag and no one on here says anything.
Then you ask why people don't bother to post or contribute on the board anymore? Why should they? So someone who has not earned his or her right to critique someone when they haven't been around long enenough to walk a step let alone a mile in that persons shoes.
I know I'm not the only that feels this way but I might be one of the few that will say it.

I'm glad you're posting again Pete.
I'll be happier when you call me and say "Ok, I'm putting on another event but this is my LAST friendlyKING ONE, I promise you that"
I'll roll my eyes and mark my calendar.
