Doug is getting stronger; he is smarter on table and knows how to play refs (i.e., call his own matches and ref agrees I have better hand control but his speed is better. I see a national and world title for him if he stays focus... I want to thank Doug for taking the challenge. We pulled this supermatch just to clear the air after a missed ref call. As ref we should remain neutral. Don’t think in your mind a puller will win because you will naturally make call for that puller (good or bad).

It wasn't a bad call. It was a missed call. You can't see everything all time. The pin was legit just not the way you would've rather had it happen. What I mean by legit was that on my side where the pin was the pad was touched

Alan I'm not trying to put you in a bad light; I respect your call. Yes, it was a missed call; understand he can only get to point to pin me if he slide elbow off back of pad. One event (i.e., elbow off pad) led to another event (i.e., pin call from ref). I should not have let the match got to point of ref having to decide on technicality. I have missed calls myself.

I understand totally. With the match coming my way, my job was to watch for the pin cause I couldn't see his elbow anyway. Your hand went to the pad and I made the call. I believe steve checked to make sure there was no shoulder contact with the hands and at that time was probably when his elbow came off the back. But in the end you showed him where the bear craps in the woods

I was man enough to say that I missed the call yesterday and I will say it today, I missed his elbow. You cant tell me that you have never missed a call. As for you to come on the board and call it a bad call that is just wrong Harold. We spoke yesterday I told I missed and you said that you were ok with that. Now you want to throw the refs under the bus for the armwrestling world to read. Thanks for that.

Steve, I changed “bad call” to “missed call”. I'm a ref as well and will never intentionally throw my fellow comrades under the bus. Refereeing is difficult and you can't possibly catch everything. You guys did a good job; you guys made 99.9% good calls. This .1% being describe here is simply to state why Doug and I had supermatch (i.e., ref missed call) and we both wanted to know who was best yesterday so we can get better. It is not to discredit your well done job. If you have further concerns call me.

Not to get in the middle of this, but I like what Harold said: Don’t think in your mind a puller will win because you will naturally make call for that puller (good or bad). That is so true and I've learned that through my experience reffing. I've also been reffed by Al and Steve and they seemed to be great ref's.

Can someone please tell me how we know there was a "missed" call? When the match was called the complaint from Harold was that he thought he should not have list because his hand "was on top" even though his hand touched the pad. Then later on the complaint was that Doug's elbow was off the pad. Who actually saw the elbow off the pad? That would be my fault I showed Steve the photo of Doug's elbow, it was a missed call, it happens with every ref, hard to see everything on the table. This sport doesn't have instant replay, a ref makes a call from what he/she sees.

Thanks Josh and Robert. I strive to be the best possible ref. I try to make every match fair. I have been in this sport for 19 years and have been a ref for 15 years and reffed thousands of matches from small local event to world events. I hate when I make a mistake but If I do I try to stand up and say I did. Now I am going to place the blame on Mike for making me eat all that food friday thats why I missed the elbow
