I've closed a 2.5 CoC Josh... Never did a#3. I think a rolling thunder is better for Aw'ING though! I use it quite often.

No, my left was close but not quite there, did a super elite left. I was only 5 or 10 lbs off on the dyno from left to right.

How much benefit does an ungodly strong grip give you in AW? No disrespect intended by that statement, I'm just wondering since I don't train grip heavy...or really at all. Am I missing the boat?

I was a grip guy before i got into AW'ing. Ive been using COC for about 7 years, so i just enjoy using them. But I do see some benefits, I feel like I am able to get better control of a top roller. Ive only been AWing for almost a year now, so i dont think i am at the point where i know whether or not COC is beneficial. I just enjoy using them. I do use rolling thunder for seated rows, and that has really helped me develop my hook.

In Grip, as in the sport of Grip, they usually test crush, pinch, support, and wrist. The support and wrist stuff might have some carry-over but it depends on what events the contest is using for those. That being said, if you have a solid Gripsport background and transition to pulling and start training your grip for AW then your hand becomes strong very quickly because you have that base. I think it goes vice-versa as well. James Retarides can pull over 230# on a RT and that would make him a threat at most any contest. I've heard Brzenk pulls crazy #s on the RT as well.
