I'll start by saying that I have known Dan for almost 2 years now and he is my friend. He is one of the most dedicated athletes I have ever known, regardless of sport. I will also admit that, if you can't tease your friends who can you tease? To that end, I did personally give Dan a hard time for entering novice classes when it was pretty obvious that he would smash everybody. Do you know what Dan's response was? He started training harder and pulling open, he even went to the Gould to take his lumps. I know that his recollection of events are correct, and it is not his facts that need checking. If you don't believe him, just ask him to show you his trophies If you have never met Dan, or spoken with Dan, then you should not speak negatively about him. He is a hell of a generous person, and getting to be a hell of an armwrestler. I have been critical of him in the past to his face, and he has responded with a harder work ethic and desire to improve. Who among his critics can say the same?

I don't think Jeff meant it to be insulting to Dan. It almost seems as if he was trying to compliment Dan. In my opinion. However, I'm apart of TAA. The organization that David started to "push for novices." I don't agree with it either. The three wins and then your bumped up isn't a BAD idea, but it's extremely difficult to enforce that with people coming in from different states. We would almost have to start our own league and only allow certain people to pull in it. Sure, the novice class is good for learning and getting your feet wet. But good god is it awful to watch sometimes (myself included during my novice stint). Tennessee armwrestling is relatively young but our push for the novice has hurt us in my opinion. Many may not have any intention to move up soon. I think that hurts us. We support novice super matches often as well.. Our turnover from novice to open is lacking. But back on topic, like I said, I don't think Jeff meant what he said as an insult.

We have around 70 total pullers and how many are elite pullers? One, Doug. We have several open pullers in the Sec rankings but not a lot compared to our overall number of pullers.

C.J. Whitfield , I understand man... I'm not taking it as a insult now. I was just annoyed about the posting of "FACTS" about me when they were incorrect. I respect novice and open guys equally and I always keep in mind that everyone has to start somewhere. I'm not at all mad at Jeff, and actually would be glad to help him out in anyway I could. Just as I hope he would do for me:)

John Schnell, I have nothing but respect for you bro. And if it wasn't for you busting my chops and telling me what I should work on I don't think I'd be where I am now. Guys...I'm nothing spectacular by any means. But with hard work, tough training, and the help of my friends and training partners, I plan to make something of myself! That's why I started competing...to see just how far I can go in this sport. I've worked out for years so yes I'm strong, but I learned FAST that strength without technique is near useless in the opens. Thanks again John Schnell for being one of the best training partners a guy could have and for putting me in my place/motivating me to become something!

I gotcha, Dan. I could honestly care less what you pull. I was just trying to clarify Jeff's intent in this thread. You seem to be at an open level. You've moved up since this thread was made. We're all just trying to make it to the top! Good luck with training!
