In association with some local Korean community organizations, Allies in Arms: Benefit to bring Korean armwrestlers to the Arnold Classic will take place January 19th in Charlotte. The tournament will take place at McKnight Hall on the campus of UNC Charlotte. Weigh ins will be at McKnight Hall from 10am-noon. The tournament will start at 1pm.
ALL of the proceeds from entries to merchandise sales will go to support the travel and expenses of two (hopefully three) Korean armwrestlers that have been granted a special invitation to the Arnold Classic thanks to Leonard Harkless and Denise Wattles. Ji-Seung Hong (pound for pound Korea's best armwrestler) told me it was his wish to pull the Arnold Classic but could not make it to a qualifier. After the way I was treated out there due to their hospitality, respect and generosity I felt compelled to return the favor. I would GREATLY appreciate your support!
$20 per entry Classes Pro left and right: 0-165 166-185 186-205 206-235 236 and +
Women 1 class right and left
Amateur and Masters left and right:
0-165 166-205 206 + It will be held at McKnight Hall, a 600 seat auditorium on the campus of UNC Charlotte. There is a lot to do in the University City section of Charlotte so we should have a bang up time after the tournament.

A Korean armwrestling tournament in conjunction with a Starcraft tournament/prizes/merchandise and banners could probably draw in a lot of youth. Anyways, good job, James!
How is your book coming on so far?

Thanks Chris and Robert. Looking forward to having you guys there. BTW, Tommy Russell and Junior Andrews are confirmed right handed. This should tell us who the best 176 in NC is! Also I am working on Kenny Smith and Doug Allen left handed and Kenny Smith and Jason Gulley right handed.
Las, that is not a bad idea. I had not heard of Starcraft until this past weekend at the conference I attended at UNC Charlotte. It sounds very popular. As for the book, it is coming along well, I should have the written part complete by the end of December.

Sounds like a great cause James ~ good going.
Did you know there's an event in Knoxville 2 weeks earlier that Ron Ruzic is putting on? Both of these events will be drawing from the same areas of pullers so it could be a conflict. Just letting you know...............

As for the book, it is coming along well, I should have the written part complete by the end of December. It is often jokingly said that Starcraft is the national religion of Korea ...perhaps more so in the south. It shouldn't be too difficult to find ways to use the huge popularity of this "e-sport" to promote armwrestling events in Korea and maybe we can save some kids and adults alike by giving them a love for a physical contest again. looking forward to your book, when I can finally have something articulate and bound on the matter than I can carry with me to the field. Don't disappoint us now, James ;D

You are quite welcome Seung-Min. Thank you Karen. As to your statement, check your PM's . Some things never change. Las, thank you. Also, I can only provide you with what I know based on my perspective of pulling for 15 years and the many conversations and experiences I have had during that time. Hopefully it is to your standards.

Challenge matches so far... Junior Andrews vs Tommy Russell, Robert Miller vs Darnell Burris, Jason Otto vs Jason Dorsey. Finalizing the details of Kenny Smith and Bucky Russell!!! They look like they will be pulling left handed for sure and possibly right handed. Others TBA

Wow James, you mean Bucky Russell is back pulling? He should shake things up, no doubt. Didn't he win several nationals at different weights and post wins against some of the biggest names in the sport?
