Im currently 244 lbs and want to push myself to get in the 98's..Ive pulled 42's and 220's ever since I've AWed..Id like to hear some testimonials on pullers who've dropped that much weight and how it has affected your abilities...I dropped to 209 back in 2010 but I didnt feel like I could lose any more. Keep in mind I'm 6'2'' and my legs are alot of it. ..would this be a wise choice? Ijust wanna be lean and strong

I think you'd regret it. If you were fat maybe. I don't see a huge benefit for it.

I pulled u in 242's and ur very strong in a hook. I dropped to 98's and feel way better, but my bodyfat is higher than yours. You can easily cut to 98's from 210 if thats as low as u comfortably want to go. You would be extremely hard to handle in the 98's. Stay in the 242's so i aint got to mess w you....lol
i do think that you would achieve the success uve been wanting if u dropped down a class tho. Jmo

my body fat is currently high atm, I think your right James. I gained quite a bit this year. Im gonna give it a shot. 44 lbs would probably take me 4 months to lose. Kyle, I hope I don't. I guess time will tell. I expect to lose some strength along the way but leaner is better I think..plus the ladies like lean

Its hard not to see the benefit from pulling a lighter class. As long as u keep ur protein intake high enuf muscle loss will be minimal, but hand strength and tendon strength loss will almost be none.

Jonathan, personally, I think 198 is too light for you...if you want to continue lifting weights...which I know you enjoy. I used to pull 198's, when I weighed around 200-205. I could drop just a few pounds and still be strong. However, when I started lifting heavy a few years ago, I gained weight...good weight. One time, I cut to 198, from about 215...and it was terrible. All of that muscle and strength I had worked so hard to build was gone. Personally, I can't lose weight without losing strength. Some guys can, but I can't. This summer for example, I had lost about 10-12 pounds from working in the heat (and not eating or lifting like I should)...and my performance suffered at IN State and at Nationals.
If I quit training the rest of my body in the gym, and only trained specifically for armwresting, I might be able to make 198. But, I love lifting weights (and I know you do too), and armwrestling is just a hobby for me. And when I'm lifting, 198 isn't an option because I carry too much muscle. So, I stay fairly lean (around 10% body fat) and really strong (at least for me) at around 220. That way, I can make 220 classes easy (and could make a 210-215 if I really had to)...and if a class is 199-242...then I load up on carbs & water and pull the 242's weighing around 225. I think a similar plan could work for you. Drop about 20 pounds, so you're in that happy medium between lean and strong. Just my two cents....

My fat a$$ needs to make 198. I am 230 and like 16-17% and only 5'10". Yikes.

You may be a little shorter than me, but you're shoulders are twice as wide, haha. With a frame your size, you would have to sacrifice some muscle to get to 198.

And you would give guys a lot of trouble in one of those 210-215 round robin type tournaments like they had out west not too long ago. I would have liked to seen you in the mix.

Eat lean and continue with your cardio/weight training and pull whatever you weigh.. And you will be strong!
Stay away from cigs and women since they are VERY Hazardous to your health.
Have your Dolphin flogged (Alone or with help) a minimum of 21 times a month to keep natural testosterone moving and it will decrease your chances of testicular cancer as you age.
I feel better pulling 242 at 228 than I did weighing 250 with a cut, It's a crapshoot any way you go. I'm shooting for 205/198 Myself but I am not 6'2 and I still carry a little fat...

Jared, your philosophy was interesting dont get me wrong, but The only thing that I think of is all of the tourneys that have 199-242..and being stuck @ 220 or just under is what I'd have to deal with
