Dont forget about muscle memory quinn, set a tourn to get to 205, cut the water and check results come tourn day.. if results are not satisfactory the muscle and strength will come back quickly once u decide to go to a positive calorie balance. Its very much so worth the test run, or u will always be wondering. Look at the guys that pull 98's all yr, then cut to 89's to win a national title, or pull 76's and cut to 65's. Pick a tourn, set a date, make a one time run at it and find out bro.

AW where you are comfortable at in regular life.
If you feel good at 220, pull at 220.
If you feel good and can maintain 198, pull at 198.
Unless you're obese, if you lose that much weight you will lose strength.
Enjoy life, be healthy, be as fit as you can be and let the weight be what it is. The monthly struggle to cut weight (for tourneys) is bullcrap and it's not healthy. I tell you what - going lighter will not make it easier on you. There is no easy class. Just because you can beat a guy at 198 right now does NOT mean if you get to 198 that you can still beat him. Size matters, I don't care who says different.

^^^^ yep what john said. I do think we can cut some weight, and while losing some power still be strong enough to warrant the cut. But I believe we also all have a point where its too much, and you lose a crazy amount of power let alone the toll it takes on you. Be strong and lean, and see where that puts you. I know you enough to think 98 is too far for you, you are a big guy to try to get that low. Im 225 right now and feel great, but would get killed by top 220 guys. but I can drop down 1 class and be in the mix, its all about finding where you lose too much.

Thanks for all the feedback guys...im reconsidering...220s may be my class..John your point was impacting...james yours too.. I think that would be a good class for you. You can be one of the bigger guys in a 220 class, or go in a little heavy for a 242 class. You'll be suprised how well you'll do in a 242 class, even if you're a lean and strong 225-230. Good luck man!
