Jmo 1 the refs in stand up already getting in the way, in this they are the only ones standing so I can't imagine being a spectator. 2 probably due to the long matches but I saw what seemed to be like an abundance of terrible positions, also it looks like your pretty much forced to use shoulder to get the last 4 inches to a pin, this type of pulling I would think to be more dangerous 3 a few matches of these and I am Ready to see what's on lifetime joking But seriously if we think awing is not a spectator sport standing up it surely could never be sitting down. Again jmo, congrats to the winners i mean no offense, just not for me.

I think this clip was all masters. Give em a break, they are old and tired. Just kidding. There was only a couple in each of those classes. A lot of what you said was true though. My 100pct strap concept would end a bunch of the bad position/finger pulling (badly needed in either style). Stay tuned, The open classes should be a little easier to watch.

This was actually a positive for me, as with stand-up it is very difficult to see. The venue also helped, as spectators were able to stand at 4 different sides of the table (the competition area was a cordoned off square). 2. There were definitely a lot of people getting into bad positions, however I do not feel that it was necessary to do so. The pads are staggered and are a decent height, so pulling back and dropping the body is still possible. I am extremely careful when it comes to getting in a bad position since an incident I had with another puller at practice last year, and I never once felt that I was in a bad spot. 3. I disagree again. As Giles said, wait until the open classes are posted before passing judgement. The sitdown style prevents a lot of quick flashes (unless the competitor is significantly stronger than his opponent). There were a good amount of catches and fairly long matches in the open classes that I saw.

hey some of us old dudes kicked but in the open class too. they dont call us masters for nothing... and ive seen alot of finger pulling at stand up nationals too. dont like the position much but sometimes you have to do what you gotta do at that time. had a blast, every one was great that I faced across the table. and ive been pulling since 86. stand ups that is and the competition is just as good in sit downs. im sure we all started at the lunch room tables back in school anyhow.

Sit down is tough. You really have to use your upper body and hand/wrist strength. The last few inches are tough, but that is one of the exciting things you can't drop your body on someone or have them do it to you. despite twisting in the upper body having to keep the hips fairly straight and seated IMO puts less twiting torque on the arm as well. Keep up the good work Randy!
