I think that stand up is far more popular than sit down. With that said, there was two nationals for many years and the sit down was recognized. Now at that point, both nationals qualified you for worlds. Now there are several tournaments that are listed as nationals. Not all of them qualify you for worlds but are still well respected. I think that sit downs should be recognized if the others are.

You are right Joe, only the USAF Nationals qualifies you for the World Championship. Yes there were two Nationals for many years but also WAF was running Sit down one year and Stand up the next. Now that there is only Stand Up World Championships I dont see the need to recognize a new National that is basicallyt local to the Mid Atlantic Region and has no World Championship.

I feel like nationals has lost it's prestige, there should be one single national competition for the USA (I'm sure that many others feel the same) i know it comes down to alot of things for it to happen like money and stuff IMO every state should have an official state championship tournament, the top 2,3 or whatever it may be in each weight class would qualify to go to nationals, I feel this way it would make it super competitive, not that it isn't competitive now cause there are some incredibly powerful pullers in this country, but I feel that it would be more organized and it would feel like that your actually fighting for something, nationals should be a prestigious competition that you have to fight for to get there, and the thought about representing team USA at the worlds would be such an honor (at least for me it would) I don't think there is a better feeling than representing your country, I grew up a soccer player first and I always wanted to represent team USA in the World Cup, I was very close to becoming a pro soccer player, I gave up on that though but I feel that Armwrestling has gave me a second chance, so I'm working very hard to get that chance to be on team USA one day.

Bill so you will not recognize sit down because it does not have a world championship so YOU do not RECOGNIZE the 2 other stand up that does not have a world championship! By the way armwresting started sit down by aaa in the 60's 1 more thing sitdown is a true championship not water down

RANDY,
IF there were only one nationals? sit downs would get it's "proper" respect. The national title is watered down due to everyone wants to host one and theres too many as it is.
AAA's was the original, the rest are followers. maybe if ALL leagues could UNI-fy together? a sit down nationals would be awesome.
I'd like to make it up there one year and try it...it does sound cool.
heck a state title is watered down too....we had 2 Florida States this year...lol....
I'd like to see ONE national myself.

To answer the question... YES... You are the nat champ at sitdown... Like Indy car and NASCAR... Still driving... In circles... But it is different and it's own class... I think it's every bit as good seeing as there are 3 standup events... I say a true champ should be able to win both... Let's make it the quad crown... Throw sit down in the mix... Now it's a spoiler
