Lately i have been wondering where people get their nicknames for AW. It seems as though many people are just giving themselves the best one they can come up with as things get more serious in our sport. Im confused, i thought you are supposed to earn a nickname? How did some of you guys get nicknames? If everyone is naming themselves then i would like to take this chance to announce my new nickname!: Derek "TheBestEverInExistenceHandsDown" Smith!

The reason i was thinking about this is because i have been thinking about ordering a table and i would like to get something embroidered onto it but i couldnt think of anything and i dont have an 'Super Awesome' nickname yet...... because i havent earned one.

Hey Derek....
In our sport bro...They are given to us during the wildest circumstances... Bars, at tournaments, are AW Buddies (most common), Practices and probably self generated..lol
Mine personally was given to me by "Big Ed" Shelton (RIP)...When I was all into the sport ..we had a big practice at his home in Riverside ..Lots of people showed up and the practice lasted about 8-9 hours of pure pulling. That is when he gave me my name "Super Steve Inzalaco"... I was beating EVERYONE..and pretty much nobody could believe it...LOL ..It was given to me by a GREAT man, while practicing with GREAT Pullers/Friends ...Probably the practice of the year. I'm guessing 2004 or 2005... RIP "BIG ED"!!

In our sport I was given the nickname by Kyle "Fritz" Fitzpatrick. My second match ever in a tournament was against him. After he smashed my arm to the pad there was a sound, and an awful smell of cracked aged rubber. Brad "rubber arm" Costa was born.
The brad

Jake, Harold, and I joked around how I never made it to practice and still would win 95% of time - "The Natural."

I got mine playing cards which I used to do six days a week, 4 in league and 2 cash tournaments. I'm a scorpio, always liked scorpions, my favorite wrestler was sting and have had them as pets. (My wife put a stop to that ) anyway I had a copper scorpion someone made for me out of thin strands of twisted copper that I used as a card topper. First a fellow player named Jason Neely (no relation) started calling me the scorpion king, and later was shortened into just scorpion. I also have a scorpion tattoo with original tribal on my right shoulder which came years before poker, but not many knew that.yuk
