Hello Glenn, You have asked an interesting question. The problem with trying to answer it is that I'm not sure most people really know what the advantages, dis-advantages, required changes etc, are as it relates to being affilicated with the UAL. Has there been a communication (preferably something public) from UAL leadership where they break this down in detail so an informed decision can be made by yourself as well as by others?
I have seen a lot of postings with opinions and what some believe to be the benefits of affiliation but I haven't seen (doesn't mean it isn't out there somewhere)anything from Robert or Bill providing details.

I have seen a lot of postings with opinions and what some believe to be the benefits of affiliation but I haven't seen (doesn't mean it isn't out there somewhere)anything from Robert or Bill providing details. UAL contracted athletes can pull in an affiliated event, they won't be able to pull if it's non affiliated. They can also pull in a round robin at an affiliated event, they just can't at this point have a one on one best of match at an affiliated event. You are supposed to follow all the UAL rules, with the biggest change being the cadence "don't move, go" vs Ready go. Traditionally bama state has been governed by AAA rules with are 95% the same. I have seen and read all details of UAL affiliate contract and athlete contract so I have a pretty good idea. I hope this helps.

Hey Bob, I haven't seen anything in writing myself, all I can go by is a tournament or 2 that did and not much of a difference. Not one UAL official showed up and didn't help advertise much at all. But it does hold hold back some competitors from pulling because they have signed a contract with them. As far as I know that would keep 4 competitors from Alabama from pulling. I would have to use their rules instead of AAA rules even though it is AAA santioned, which makes no sense to me. But they are not that many things different, but me personally don't like them.
