So I remember years back seeing some guy named John smash dudes on espn... ha Wasn't pulling then , and just curios to know what happened to that? Was it just one program or what? Did it flop? I just remember it being awesome! But me being a "never been beat" at the time thought that I could whip all of em! Hahahaha

I remember Ron Bath was one of the first pullers that I ever got to see on tv, I too remember watching armwrestling on espn a few years back. I always wondered what ever happened to that.

Arm Wrestling International (AWI) events were regularly broadcast on ESPN throughout the '80s and '90s. Almost all of these featured a pro sports division. Most often it was an NFL football players division, but MLB baseball players, and even NHL hockey players and NBA basketball players took part at one time or another in the '80s. In addition to the pro sports division, there was a professional armwrestling division -- but usually only one or two classes were offered in any one event. The light-heavyweight class (up to 210 lbs) was the class that was probably most often featured. It was won many times by John Brzenk, Johnny Walker, and Clay Rosencrans. As far as I know, the last AWI event was held in 2001. It would assume that nowadays athletes involved in the big four professional sports would not be allowed to compete in armwrestling tournaments, for fear of injuries. You can find more info on the AWI events here: armwrestlersonly.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/arm-wrestling-international-awi.html

The 2004 Unified Nationals were broadcast several times on ESPN, but it appears it was a one time deal.
The Mohegan Sun PAC World Championships were also broadcast a few years later.

GNC was televised. Petaluma...
Lots of seemingly random events ended up on tv. I saw myself on ESPN once and didn't even remember the event being filmed, LOL.

ESPN also did a documentary in 2005 about armwrestling. It was the first episode of Timeless. My son, Boomer and I were fortunate enough to be featured. They filmed the beginning at the 2004 World Wristwrestling Championships in Reno. Then they filmed the rest at my house. It was aired several times.

I know PETALUMA was really the event that propelled the sport. Wide world of sports aired for like 16 years and it was their top rated show much of that time. Espn in the 80s was also Great coverage.I was fortunate to have been in Petaluma , but unfortunate to have run into a Very Hyped up..Allen Fisher!! Then in 1986 they done a Documentary of the 25 yr anniversary of Petaluma..Hmmmm again i was shown Losing to ..Allen Fisher again!! That was called "Hands Down" ...side note..Look up the Movie about a man training for Petaluma called..PK and the Kid...it starred Paul Lemat from American Graffiti fame...

There was also a show called Sunkist Kids back in late 80"s that featured young kids and their sports which did a whole show on kids armwrestling featuring my grandson Chris and Jim Fitzsimmons son Jimbo. Forget the network but I did receve calls from all over about seeing it.
