Firstly this is not Tim B or James.
This is me.
Secondly, I would like to personally congratulate each and everyone one of you on the show and on a job well done. I sat back and read all the comments last night and today without even watching it for myself. Tonight I sat down with the wife and kids and watched it.
Great Job.
I was entertained, I was interested, I was invested and I was proud.
For the most part you guys portrayed yourselves like the real you and that had to be hard to do.
Last but not least, this goes out to the ones who are being extremely negative.
Stop.
Do you not realize what has happened? The sport that you all train for, the sport you all shed blood, sweat and years for, the sport that done of you have broken bones for and tore ligaments for is on national TV and 1 million people tuned in.
I can't think of one tournament in a bar or one nationals in a ballroom or worlds at a convention center that had 1 million spectators.
AMC, Undertow and 25 of our own friends and family just did that.
Negativity is a sign of jealousy and envy and those of you that are expressing so much hate and negativity are really just showing us all just how jealous and envious you really are.
Be proud of what these people and the 25 lucky individuals have done.
They have just shown 1 million people the sport we all love.
They could have put 25 anybody's on TV and John Q. Public would not have known any different but no. They chose 25 of our friends and family to represent our sport and bring it into the homes of 1 million family's.
Think about that before you speak negatively about the show or about those on it that I consider friends and family.

Hey Pete! Glad to have YOU actually posting on this "message" board. Hope you're doing well!
100% agree with everything you said. There are things I liked, and didn't like about the show, but either way it's HUGE for everyone in the armwrestling family.
I've talked to Mike and Kenny on multiple occasions, and actually found myself not liking Mike and hoping Kenny won. Totally not how, as an armwrestler, I would think if I was watching these two at Nationals.

The show was good but they have to show two big guys fighting on tv. Not the view that we should portray as armwrestler

Damn right they should. #1 AW is a primal sport where emotions get high, #2 it's great for ratings and that's the bottom line.

There are many primal sports. In MMA that sort of thing is frowned upon. It didn't look like a "real" fight either. No punches thrown. The show itself was fun, though they need two refs. Good ones who don't wear sunglasses in a dark room.

You care about the sport looking professional, The producers don't. If they did they wouldn't stage it in abandoned warehouses. If this show was done the way you and some other arm wrestlers wanted it to be, the ratings would've been much lower, therefore less exposure. These guys know their trade.

Guys... This is getting anal retentive and over analytical .
I gave my piece and perspective, but If we MUST look deeper... Than let's have at it from a real world viewpoint.
This show is aimed at seeming underground, it's ironic ... Because we ARE an underground sport... So they are illustrating that with the whole mystery secret location in abandoned places... Get it ?
The fight ?... C'mon man !... First, who said it was a fight?... What if they just felt like manhandling eachother and wrestling, but not inflicting real injury... As a release or because of tension ?... It is feasible... I've only seen this a hundred times off camera... And not even AWing related. They are grown high test guys... Maybe they just felt like getting shovey and displaying their aggression in an alternate way... Raise your hand if you been there ... Guilty here. For the experts in real fighting .... Well, I have seen mma and UFC fights look just like that... Actually as a kid I watched Gracie and shamrock do this bump and grind for a half hr. Without punches thrown... That was billed as a REAL fight. Plus, in the realm of street fights... Seeing guys have at it just like this is way way more common than seeing stand up clean striking... The flooding of mma on tv leads us to believe that fights look like the highlight real on spike, when actually like 99.9% of guys who may have the willingness to go at it... They actually have no clue how to go about it. Oh, not positive, but I think tom and mike are both fairly accomplished wrestlers, so food for thought when baggin out their skill. Lastly.... Viewers love this sh!t !!... Fact. I never seen any damage inflicted on jerry springer... Just the threat of conflict ... EVERY segment.... That was the biggest show for an era.
In an underground match I would think a ref is walking the line of over complicating things... Like wearing a tux to a ho down... Two refs don't belong in the show model...
The glasses... Really?... Tim b. Wears them everywhere... A sh!t ton of people wear em indoors. It is associated with seedy... And considering it is in a side betting armwrestling, alcohol fueled , abandoned warehouse skirmish... He fits... I suggest a few tear drop tats or a neck tat... Sincerely... He fits
The proof is in the pudding gents. Easy to break down every piece, but every single production can be ripped apart if you knew the people and realm like you know armwrestling. To the non armwrestling obsessers... It was cool, don't take it from me, look at my text inbox from people I haven't heard from in years...

tom nelson is the man he was born for the screen.Things that I rembermber Tom Nelson and Don Underwood supermatch things got a little out of control.Smith vs Hale when Jake grabed Hales glasses and walked around the stage.Miller vs Hale things got hot.I don't remember the countless hrs sitting in crap hole bars waiting to pull my 4 matches.I may not do those things but that is the action in armwrestling not the match.

Pete when I saw you created this thread, I assumed it was going to be negative, Im sorry for that....but if the biggest "hater" of all time sees the good this may bring and points out negative people that says a lot!
People keep saying they should have done this, or that, well they dont owe you, or me, anything. they can make any kind of show they want. I was worried it was going to be a joke on us, or some show made to make us look foolish. I can tell you every single person I dealt with not only treated us with respect, but ended up being invested in it, and us. It was a honor meeting these people. We are lucky they did this. we are lucky they let us be and act however we wanted. Yes emotions got cranked up a few notches, it happens for many reasons. Yes they spiced up locations, and gave it their own dramatic feel. I can only say I hope it continues and more of you are on,to see how cool it was.
The UAL is great for pullers, we are so lucky to have Robert Drenk doing that, and now a show doing this. Be happy bro! Best time ever to be a puller is now! I have always said I respect anyone with the guts to compete one on one in a place full of people. Now maybe the public will see what you work so hard at!

Great points, Jim.
Honestly, they could have used two or three real armwrestlers and everyone else in the show could have been a paid actor if they just wanted a weekly version of Over The Top. I'm thrilled they used real pullers. I didn't recognize a lot of poeple in the crowd acting as spectators, but I'm assuming they were family and friends of the pullers.
Everyone knows that this sport can only take one of two paths: Golf or Entertainment. WAF style would be Golf and GOA went for entertainment. I think it's the right choice.
Editing is everything, and I hope they don't decide to cut the film in such a way as to create a dirty, bogus view of the sport. I almost jumped out of my chair and yelled "Hell Yeah" when Luke Kindt spoke up during the scuffle and called BS. I'm sincerely shocked that the producers/editors kept Luke's statement in the show. That was a really, REALLY good sign that there will be at least some integrity kept in the story line in my opinion.
I hope that this thing blows up and becomes huge and that every puller who took a big chance on GOA gets filthy stinking rich. God forbid somebody actually make a few nickels from this sport.

Great stuff guys! I was totally engaged with the show, warts and all. The people are real characters,(we know how we are) they are clowns, knuckleheads and evil geniuses of our sport! They make it interesting and great! The hugs after matches were real and I'm glad they left that in because the fellowship is real! Glad our great little sport has a voice!

I was gonna start a thread similar but I'll just throw my .02 right here!
First of all it was great seeing guys on TV that I've had many conversations with and pulled with.
Second.... My wife hates AW.... Even my wife watched the show and found herself rooting for Kenny Hughes.. (Sorry Mike S)
I'm proud of where the sport has gone... I've worked hard myself to make it happen here in Fl and hope that it does come here as well.
I've watched the show 10 times and will watch it again and again!!
I look fwd to seeing my buddies this Tuesday nite again!!
I'm finally excited about this sport again!!
Flashback of watching Travis, Mike & Ron on the ESPN shows!!
This show is much much better!!
We're back on TV folks!!
Congrats to the guys representing us!!
Thanks
TK
