First off I'm a fan of PullTV GOA WAL UAL and anything else with the word armwrestling in it..
With the latest exposure, is the sport really Growing? Yes .. ok Robert did sell 2 shirts to a a guy that watched GOA, and we are all getting emails with questions. . But are we growing?
We need a way of truly measuring the growth...for example.. The attendance at WAL ohio was a good indicator.. but what else?
Business investors use population statistics in and out of a city to gage opertunities based on growth..
Can the moderator of this board do the same? Can they post the number of new members that join each month, quarter, and year for the past and future? I suspect board membership will be a good indicator of growth since people that discover this sport will eventually find this board

Kurt already did that in a previous post. I get e-mails everyday lately asking to join this Board. Plus there are about 20 more waiting to be accepted because they didnt finish the registration right.

I didn't see them..Was it a one time thing? There should be a thread solely dedicated to membership statistics..

Without a doubt..at least in Texas. I'm getting phone calls/Facebook msgs almost weekly since the show debuted. The Houston tournament last wknd(3/15) had more newbies than ever before...and, I believe the most number of entries since they began the tourney 3 yrs ago.

It certainly made me start looking for a forum to communicate with other pullers. I grew up around armwrestling locally as my father did, but that was just your typical small town bars armwrestling.
I definitely believe that GOA will bring many more people to the sport.

Game of Arms really a great Show. I have 2 new guys coming to practice and one was a several time Florida State Champ and Pulled in the Yukon Jack Worlds. Pretty cool , he hasn't pulled in 17 Years and he's all pumped up and coming over Saturday ! I haven't had a training partner in over a year and tell you the truth , I was about ready to just hang it up. I now have 7 guys at practice and I know a lot has to do with the Show. It's actually pumped me up as well. Hopefully this will spark more Tournaments around here as well.

NO matter what ANYONE says, GoA will only bring more people to the sport. I think what we will see though is a lot of people stop after a few years. You don't see too many elite armwrestlers that have only been pulling a few years. Armwrestling is definitely a sport of dedication.

I've tracked the rate of member requests to join the Mile High ArmSports Facebook page, comparing that rate between two periods: 25 Feb 2013 - 17 Feb 2014 versus 18 Feb 2014 - 21 March 2014.
The rate for the year prior to the debut of Game of Arms (up to one week before the show premiered) was 1 request every 3.0 days. The rate from the week prior to debut through today was 1 request every 1.3 days. I chose that one-week-prior date cutoff, as this is where I can see a clear change.
The rates in both cases were highly linear (R^2 ~ 0.99), meaning there was a discrete jump in how frequently people requested to join.
So, we've seen the growth rate of that Facebook group more than double. I'm curious to see when that rate starts leveling off, and if that value remains higher than the pre-GOA rate. (ok, I'm a nerd...)
I will attempt to track the web hits on milehigharmsports.com soon and report those as well, to give a little more regional data.
Now, it is another question whether website hits and/or FB group memberships will reflect actual changes in participation in the sport. But it's as good a measure as we have at this early point. I suppose that the only real way to track growth in participation, as others have mentioned, is to compare tournament entry numbers pre- and post-GOA premiere. We should be able to somewhat reliably do that maybe 6-12 months out.

The tournament I was at today was absolutely loaded with novice pullers. I'd say they typically get 70 total entries or so, today there was something like 52 just in the novice class.
A lot of the new pullers were talking about GOA. Its definitely bringing in people.
