If someone has never won an actual world champion nor even reached the podium at an official world event, is it a lie to stake claim that you are a multi - world champ?
I understand league champions; but those that compete on leagues chose their opponent. Typically, they only pull people they claim they can beat.Granted, kudos to those that do win, but it should be stated that you are a UAL champion or Arm Wars champion but not world.
Just asking...

In professional boxing you have different organizations. I.e. WBO, IBF, WBC and WBA. Each have a ranking system and their own world titles. UAL world champion is a legitimate title as well as PAL or any other armwrestling organization. Naturally we all want to see "the" world champion but there are many. To say your "a" world champion armwrestler would be accurate vs. "The" world champion. jmo
now is the tournament at WAF world's different? I'd say absolutely. I would tend to think that it is more difficult at world's than any other league out there.

I will be hosting the JHR World Championships in Laval Qc this summer. Come to my house, give me 50 bucks and win a world title. If no one shows up I will become a 5 time world champ. There will be 5 weight classes. LOL

I would think being a world champion would mean you beat the best in the world like at a nemiroff or WAF world were you compete with all the world talent to be called the champion of the world.

Agreed. There should only be one national and world championships, and we currently don't have that going for us. Many reasons why, but there is no comparison to other countries. Embarrassed really.

To claim you are something that you arent takes away from all the people who have worked hard to achieve it fairly. IMO.

Jonathan hit the nail on the head, different organization=different world champions.
This DOES water down the prestige of becoming said championship be it nationals, worlds, or one of the state's with multiple championships.
Having said that to most of the world outside of armwrestling that champion IS the world champion until he's beat or another organization comes to the main stream with their own world title....mma...boxing...pro wrestling...All come to mind...it's more about presentation than legitimacy...The same as hosting a nationals to get decent sponsorships...

So are you saying all the people who won those titles should stop calling themselves a world champion even though at the time it was the only world championships? WWC was the first world championships and many who claim having world titles were from that event.

I won 2 classes at the 2005 WWC World championships, but I have a really hard time calling them World Championships when there was a guy from Canada, and a couple from Brazil I think, and the rest from the US. Then there are the WAF world titles, believe me there is a huge difference.

I believe any WWC title counts from the years before WAF was the established Worlds.
