Nice classes Trapper. Glad to see someone else doing novice/amateur/pro at one tournament. How are you defining the novice class?

Novice classes should have no one allowed in them that; Have State Titles; Have National Titles; Have placed in any Pro Tournaments; have been pulling for more than 3yrs;
These are my personal thoughts not gotten off any website,or someone else's League or whatever just what I thought of, anyone else have any I'm up for ur imput.

I agree Or already won a first in novice ... Never understood why some guys hang around pulling novice over and over after they ve won... Plastic collectors I guess

I gotta say and I know its hard cause people dont wear a tag that says hey I'm pro, but the TopRoll tournament last month, The Novice (classes)were heavily stacked with pro's. Not judging just saying >>>>Comon Mannnn<<<< If your pro, pull pro, dont be super tough guy and whoopass on the novices.

Ya that's plagued AWing and always hurts the chances of that true novice ever competing again. I agree that if they won 1st in any tourney with a class of 5+ they are no longer novice. JMO

I totally agree, but you dont know everyone,and when people are signing up its a madhouse,you expect them to be honest and signup where they belong....

For novice when we run amateur too: Novice: First timers, never won any event, Amateur: No more than two amateur wins with more than four in the class, no placing at nationals, never beating a known pro, not placing first in opens with 4 or more in the class. Pro: Anyone can enter including those disqualified from the other two classes.

I totally agree, but you dont know everyone,and when people are signing up its a madhouse,you expect them to be honest and signup where they belong.... Ya, sometimes you just don't know....but usually they are well known. That's what surprised me most about this sport. My first tournament was nationals in Tahoe and there were all kinds of well known pullers in the novice class. I even knew them and I was new. I asked why.....seems like pu$$y shi$ to me, the common responce is "it's always like that, just get better, pull pro, and you dont have to worrry about the career novice/amatures." A VERY well known puller here in Cali jumped into the novice at a tourney and embarrased a first timer so bad in front of his family that he didnt even pull his second match. The dude toyed with him....was giving him pointers during the match like he was his coach....lame. This was a TOURNAMENT match and be just held him and let him try to break his own arm until he gave up. Every guy watching that match that has never pulled a tourney and might have in the future.....will never pull a tourney after seeing that guaranteed. So ya, if you are new....get used to it....it's just the way it is right now.

And that's mainly novice. Amature is far more complicated. I can respect a career amature as long as he pulls for a hobby, maybe only pulls a couple tourneys a year and isn't taking first/second at every tourney he pulls. Or a pro that is masters/grandmasters and they don't offer that class. Like Carlos Garcia or Bruce Way for example

I totally agree, and wish it was easier to offer a Masters/Grandmasters- WOuld be really cool

April 26 was my first tournament ever. Had never armwrestled on a proper table before. Long story short, had my a$$ handed to me, but fell in love with the sport.
I looked up 2 of the guys that beat me and saw that they've been pulling in the Novice class in 3-4 Tourney's per year for the past 5 YEARS! At first I thought, "What the Eff!!! You're not a Novice!"
But now? Now I'm looking forward to seeing them again at the next Tourney... and passing them by as I work my way out of that class! All I want is to improve and continue to challenge myself. Preying on rank amateurs is a pathetic display. Guess some people need the ego boost of "getting a win"- no matter how hollow it is.

I hope you crush them after being in the sport for few months so they can have more incentive to train or do whatever else it takes with enough conviction and grit to leave novice once and for all
