I think Michael Todd i number one, of course I would like to see him use his strength instead of his bone lock, but it is what it is and no one can beat him.
The only way is to break his arm.

Bill - I'm not sure your post was directed at me, but I no longer manage the IntheHook rankings. Josh Handeland has been taking care of them for the past three years. He and Jeff Slater (who does the Canadian rankings) deserve all the credit.

I'm curious, I just perused the national champions (Team USA) and am a bit confused why the folks that are in the top rankings for the US are not national champs. Were they beat? Or didn't they enter that tournament? If they didn't enter, then why wouldn't the top pullers enter the national championships? To me it just seems odd why some of the best pullers are not going to represent their country at the world championships.

Worlds is an amateur competition. No invective to a pro puller.

Worlds is an amateur Competition? I'm sure most of these signed and so called pro pullers would not place at a World Championship. Some wouldn't even win a match.

I would imagine it is partly due to the fact worlds drug tests and nationals doesn't have a high pay-out. No reason to go if your not going to go to worlds

I don't care if they win a match or spontaneously combust into the atmosphere, there is no money given to the winners. Therefore, despite you and vazgens engaging opinions.. It is an amateur event.

Glenn that Is a two way street. Alot of these so called National and World champions wouldn't even have represented their country let alone graced the potium if the cream would have shown up to nationals and or Worlds. I suspect that was Chris' s original point. WAF for most athletes the only incentive is recognition and honor. As you know attending Worlds win or lose costs you personal money hence defining it as an amateur event.

Chris and Kyle, I kinda see you point. No pay out must be an amateur event. But still no way is the Worlds or any of the 3 Nationals an amateur event. IMO And yes Kyle, a Worlds event out of the country cost big bucks. But we all have our opinions. Just pull any event you can make it to and pull hard.

To me it just seems odd why some of the best pullers are not going to represent their country at the world championships. I will enter my 2 cents worth of opinion on this. 1. No money at a WAF Worlds 2. No money at the qualifier to go to the Worlds 3. Most pro's have been at one time or another to a WAF Worlds so for most that is enough. 4. WAF Worlds takes a lot of vacation time, min 7-10 days even with the new rules 5. Most WAF Worlds are at very expensive places to get to, basically 2000.00 min to attend 6. Our pros do come when it is in the USA even if there is no money because it will be the . ultimate challenge without spending a huge amount of money.

Not to mention the steroids that are being used as well. Are there rules for sports medicine in armwrestling? I attended the ual national championships and the first and second placers were obviously using. I have been in the strongman world for many years so I am no prude. It just sounds like there are excuses being made instead of the truth. Unless gear is legal. I'm not aware. If anyone has any info on this I sure would like to know
