How many novice entries are showing up to tournaments in different state's across the country? Is there a large increase?

The few tourneys I've been too never fill out a novice class. Everybody just jumps in at amateur which can be pretty tough

California doesnt typically offer a Novice class, I think I am the only one in recent memory to offer novice.

Actually to answer your question Yes. I have been to 8 tournaments this year and in each tournament there have been more new folks then pros/open pullers.
To David's point no one really offers novice anymore, but I can tell you first hand that all the events I went to the guys pulling armatures were difenetly novice or beginners.
I would venture to say that Leonard and Denise are seeing the same thing.

More novice entries since Game of Arms. Definitely a huge spike in numbers in the tourneys I held this spring, maybe wearing down slightly now?

I like to offer free pudding to all novices for atleast 2hrs and that seems to really draw the numbers!

No novice classes at the tournaments I've been to recently. Amateur class usually has a lot of guys with experience ranging from 0 to 8 yrs with some of those guys winning the open class as well.

I took quite a bit of time off and pulled a few tournaments lately and the novice numbers are way up but I've also notice alot of guys that pull alot hanging in the novice classes just to brag they won ... Especially at nationals lately , alot of guys claiming they've pulled for years but still want a title to brag about but can only do it in the novice . Pretty sad really I also thought novice was for the guys just starting out , not the guys that don't want to challenge themselves ... Also opens the real novices up to injuries IMO

Since the Airing of GOA the tournaments that I have gone to have seen a huge rise in the Novice classes..and with the WAL,UAL and even local guys raising the bar in this sport I believe it will continue to grow in a positive way.
