I've begun planning a charity tournament in Dallas, likely at the end of November. I wanted to get an idea about awards. I do plan to have sizeable cash payouts, but the visual award is important too. So I wanted to get a consensus on what you guys prefer.

Trophies collect dust, take up too much space and end up getting broken. With a medal, it can either be displayed or put in a drawer. Olympians get medals. Every trophy I've ever won I removed the engraved plate and donated to schools to give out to the kids. I have kept the medals though, first off because they are usually engraved and can't be reused.
Since it's a charity I would think the main goal is to get as much money as possible to your charity. Medals are less expensive and spending extra money on trophies seems counter productive and goes against the true reason for having the tournament, to raise money for your cause.
