I'm very curious who has tried to lift the Inch DB and who was successful. It's an awesome test for hand, wrist and forearm strength. I can't lift lift but I'm training for it.
Thanks,
Flo

Well, i've never done it..thou my coach Jim Bryan has a dumbell in his basement that we made. I think its 180 or 185 and I can pick it up with with either hand. I was looking at the stats on the inch db and it's only 172lbs.

I think Rob Vigeant has done it. I know a guy that I see in the Gym some mornings that used to dead lift and says he lived in Mass. and used to powerlift for a while. He has a picture of himself lifting the Inch dumbell.

Luke, The inch dumbell is much harder than a plate loaded dumbell of the same weight. When the inch gets spinning that is 172 lbs. of solid mass that you cannot stop once it starts. With a plate loaded handle only the handle spins and not the whole mass, which makes it easier to control.
I have deadlifted it with both hands

Rob, Our dumbells are bolted at the ends which prevents the center from spinning. Like you said, once the weight starts rolling, the whole dumbell, weight and all starts rolling, not just the handle.
Glad to hear training is going well for you. Getting with skilled pullers that train regularly is just what the Doc ordered. Stay focused and I'm sure we'll hook up soon, lol... All the best, Jim
