This is Chris James from Wales performing wristcurls with 400lb on a thick barbell. I just wanted to share this amazing strength feat with you.

it is amazing even though his knees are doing the half of the job.he is training his calves and wrist at same time.

That much weight puts a lot of pressure on the hands, but I'm with Engin, if he kept his feet flat and used the wrist to get the weight started....I would be more impressed. I've no doubt that he is strong, but you need to also remember the angle of the knee to hip...raise the knee and you are almost rolling the weight down hill toward your hip.
Correct form is everything when you make claims.....I for one however am glad to see it in video. It makes it a lot easier to truely see what happened. I don't think that there are that many people that could do the wrist curls even the way he did it with that much weight. My hat is off to him for the work that he has put in over the years to be able to do this!

Maybe Mr. Fortuna would have something to say on this one??

I thought it looked pretty impressive. specially that he was letting it roll out on his fingers. Calves or no calves. It was a great feet of strength.

I was impressed too. I can remember when I could do heavy wrist curls that i raised my calfs some too. Its kind of natural to do that. I think we just try to get the plain a little more level rather than angled down .

Noone has mentioned this, but it was done on a 2" thickbar, not a standard barbell. And still, like Mr. Fortuna said, he was letting it roll out to his fingers... calves or not, that amount of weight on a 2" bar and for a couple of "cheated reps" if you may call them, is worldclass.

I wish there was some video of Mike Mignona from New Jersey doing wrist curls. He without a doubt has the strongest wrist I have ever seen. In 1992 I have seen myself over 300lb One-Hand wrist curl for reps. NO Calf raised and off the end of his knee at a slight down angle. He would go to straight wrist position and then back up. I am sure some of he New Jersey guys can back me up on this. Also Jeff Nadler now living in Arizona once told me he could wrist curl 250lb. I did not believe him. Then we went to the gym. I have seen him wrist curl 130lbs 50 times. I now believe him.

Yes Bob, Mike could do them one handed. I've seen him do it. Jim bryan and myself were doing 300 one handed with a 2.5" thick grip for sets of 10. We haven't done them in awhile but, I'm sure it wouldn't take long to get back to that number. If Rob still had his nj.net site up there were pics of the dumbbells we use.

That's utterly impressive there Bob and Luke!!! However, going "from straight wrist and up" seems to be a totally different ballgame than letting your wrist bend backwards and then getting it up.

the thing is that when i do my wrist curls on my knee,my wrist and even two inches of my forearm is out away from my knee.in this wrist curl forget about wrist and forearm, even his hands are on his knees. his wrist goes bent back but it is not because his wrist is going back at away from his knee, but because his outer forearm muscles naturally makes an empty space between wrist and knee, and his upper leg muscles also is higher than his knees and this allows his wrist to go back maybe an inch but the wrists still rest on his knees when he lets the barbell go.i mean when he lets the weight go it is forcing his fingers but the wrist and hand are laying on his knee.and when he curls it,he raises his knees with calve raise, and the weight rolls back since it is done at parellel position with floor.as i said,it is an incredible amount of weight but IMO it is not done correctly at all.i am sure that i can do super clean 250 pounds with both hands if my forearms are parellel with floor, and i guess i can do about 350 if i raise my knees while curling.JMO

Engin,
I believe Neil was doing his wrist curls on a table like David Horne demonstrated on the British Grip Masters site. Very heavy weight with focus on wrist curling from straight wrist and moving the weight off the table. I may not remember correctly, but I think it was this way

www.armwrestling.com/meetsp.htmlHere is an old article that has a picture (at the botton of the page) of me wrist curling 360 lbs sitting on the end of a bench press bench. I too focused on straight wrist, then wrist curl, but had my hand and wrist hanging over the end of my knees. At that point the weight was wide enough that I couldn't put anymore on the bar and be in a position that I could curl.
