(I got this message from Scott Flash Norton today)....................Hey everyone my friend John Brzenk has joined myspace. Johnny Brzenk is a legend in the arm-wreslting world & he might be the reason I come out of arm-wrestling retirement. I retired from the arm-wrestling world to pursue my pro-wrestling career before Johnny became the animal he is today in the arm-wrestling world. I beat him 3 times before I retired & I not only feel I owe him a rematch but I owe myself the opportunity to see what impact I can make on the arm-wrestling world today just like I did before I started pro-wrestlilng. Johnny Brzenk is a great guy & I am looking forward to what the future might hold so please add him as a friend "www.myspace.com/johnbrzenk.com". As always I thank all of you for your nice comments & emails in supporting my career. Hope everyone has a great week. Take care. Scott "Flash" Norton

Irrelevant. Even if he were to win, he has got to be what, 50, 100 lbs bigger? To me this shows how much better John is then anyone, who would challenge someone they are half again bigger then unless it was John? If we were talking about anyone else, say a 200lb guy, who challenged a 100lb guy, we would call him a bully. Its cool Scott might come back, but it doesnt change anything.

Finding ANYONE at ANY WEIGHT that can beat John nowadays is a challenge, let alone a guy that hasn't been in the sport for a couple of decades. I'll be impressed if he holds his own against John, even if he has the size advantage.

Scott coming back is awesome... especially at his age. I have been a Norton fan since I started armwrestling and have heard stories that are amazing. I am in the process of gathering information about him, then will get him on the phone for an ArmTV interview and get his side and where he has been since! He was the best back in his day... when heavy weights were tougher than they are now... and dominated. I am excited to see what he will bring to the table!!!!

Harold,
i respect your opinion about heavyweight at that time being tougher than today's heavyweights, even though i am not sure about that.
who were the heavyweights of that time that were greater than today's heavies?Bobby Hopkins,Virgil Archierio,Cleve Dean,Scott Norton and some more.for sure John was not at his prime,Goodridge's prime was in 90s,Lupkes became a monster after Scott retired and there was no armwrestling in eastern european countries when Scott left the sport.
so today,we have John Brzenk,Alexy Voevoda,Travis Bagent,Farid Usmonov,Matt Girdner (until not too long ago).i am not sure how the current best heavyweights (except Brzenk and Voevoda) would do against Cleve Dean at his prime but other than him most of these athletes would beat the rest of super heavies of that time(excluding Norton),JMO.

Yes those are some very tough guys... We do have a lot "more" heavyweights today too... But... I believe all the guys now in their prime, compared to those back in the day (in their prime) wouldnt compare. Virgil on his hay day... who could beat him?? Cleve in his prime... beat Virgil... Scott beat Cleve when Cleve was unstoppable... These new guys are good but not as good IMO!!! That being said... I do respect your thoughts and take them deeply as truth because of the knowledge you have of the sport!!

Harold,
do you really believe that John Brzenk,Travis Bagent or Alexy Voevoda could not beat Virgil prime vs prime?i am sure that Alan Karaev also would beat Virgil if they had chance to pull in their primes.
i have seen John vs Cleve a few times, the ones that i saw was not that hard.anyways,we all have our opinions.

For one Scott Norton is 45 years old and he's been a pro wrestler for those 20 years so you can bet he has been working out everyday since he retired from armwrestling , I mean it isnt like he has been lying around doing nothing come-on people he has been throwing around 300+ lb men for 20 years and I believe I seen where John said he had a heck of tricep push so you can bet he has still got that going for him, I seen a recent pic of the man and he still looks like a beast and I know I know some will say he hasn't been training for armwrestling and he has got 20 years of lost table time and yes I agree but if you think for one minute that some average joe off the street can beat him becuz of this you would be truely crazy and yes I agree he is not going be on the level of a Bagent or Brezenk, Scott said him self that he beat John (before) John became the beast of today but I give the man props for wanted to give John a chance to beat him becuz I dont care if you are 1000lbs and you challege John Brezenk at 200lbs good luck to you my friend. Just thought I would get on here and defend Scott since I was the one who posted this and I had sent scott a message last week wanting to know about his armwrestling career and how he was the only one thats beat John that John has never beat back and if that is false I appolgize to John I thought I had seen where he had posted that but big Scott was nice enuff to write me back the same day and let me know all about his career so he is a stand-up guy and I'm sure everyone would love to see him back in this sport that we all love, thank you

It would be a very interesting matchup to see the old against the new. Virgil was a very powerful man, and a good technician. For all of his weight, Cleve Deans arm looked like it belonged on another man, and any modern day body builder would be glad to have it.That being said the science of muscle and tendon building has improved with time as armwrestling techique has been refined. It would definitely be fun to have a time machine
