All I can say, is we need more people like Gary Roberts in the sport of armwrestling. No one can deny this mans enthusiasm towards our sport. His fresh way at looking at things is breathing new life into the sport. Whether you like what he is doing or not really isn’t the point. He is trying and trying everything he can think of. Some of his ideas I thought were crazy but at least he is trying new ideas. I loved the new table. It still needs some fine tuning but it was awesome.
NO Parallel pins. ALL slips go to straps. These are a refs dream because it gets rid of all the grey area in a lot of calls. It definitely made my job easier. And there was not one argument over a call. Like I said earlier, still have some fine tuning but all in all a great start.
Gary Roberts, I would like to personally thank you for all you do for a sport that I love.

Also, Ditto what Bob said... and I don't know how Gary does it... going without sleep for so long at a time... his unending enthusiasm is amazing! The table was certainly pretty... and I really didn't mind the changes... John W. did a wonderful job building it. Wow! Gary- Carma has GOT to be on your side!

He has devoted his career and life to making armwrestling interesting to watch for viewers but also to make armwrestlers feel important and not just a number. Thank you guys!! It feels good to hear things like that. It was very rewarding to see an idea and a vision come together. There were a few kinks but overall a great success. There are things that will definitely be altered to take it to another level.
I will keep all of that in another thread that I will begin summing up the adventure.

ohh.. If people do like what I am doing and appreciate it then the best way to show that support is to continue being a member of the nation or become one. Whether you watch it alot or a little, the more numbers we have the more ideas that can come to fruition. I believe, from the bottom of my heart, that there is no viable reason that armwrestling is not a mainstream sport with mainstream coverage. My theme for ROTN has been "bring the fans back" and I think with the event this weekend we headed into that direction one step closer. But there is much to do.

When you started talking about this event I just thought it was another idea that wouldn't happen. When you set a date I didn't think it would turn out the way you always were talking about, BUT... I went to the event and WOW!! It was everything I could wish to see at a tournament; awesome lighting, the tournament was run pretty promptly, and there wasn't a lot of unneeded talking and overexposure. The music was on and loud and other than a few song the music selection rocked! You had a great choice of refs and about the only other thing I can say is I feel sorry for all of those that didn't attend because they missed a great tournament. Hopefully there be another event next year and you will be there! Thank you again.

well, from a fans perspective, let me just say that i LOVED this tournament!! the music, the announcing, the reffing, the format, and most importantly the CALIBRE of competition was AWESOME!! everyone who walked through the door had a blast, and when the pullers are having a good time and no one is crying, it's a lot easier for me to have a good time!! LOL thanks for a great tournament (especially since it's my last until worlds!) and i'm looking forward to MANY MORE like this! great job gary and everyone else who made this happen!!
