After watching ArmTv a "what if" popped in my head. If Mr. Lupkes would have continued to compete for the last 20 years could he have been as/or more successful than John B. Could he have been "the greatest ever"? JB fans please no hate mail, it's just a "what if".

Richard Lupkes is clearly one of the most dominant superheavyweights of all time. In terms of raw arm wrestling potential, he might be head and shoulders above even John Brzenk.
That being said, John thrives on competition – perhaps even more so than anyone else I have met. I think if Lupkes was actively competing all of these years, what we would have seen as a result would have been an even stronger and more complete John Brzenk.

i would not even compare Lupkes and Brzenk about armwrestling skills.Lupkes has probably been stronger than Brzenk(in overall),but IMO it is not possible to be that strong for 20 years.there were times that John has won with his intelligence, experiences and knowledge even though his power was less than his opponent on that day.IMO Lupkes did not have the same skills(no one ever had as much as Brzenk),but pure power.
what makes Brzenk the best ever was not only his strength but his intelligence, capabilities, knowledge and his strength made him the best ever.he is comparable about his strength but his intelligence, capabilities, knowledge are not comparable.

I agree!! The difference between Richard and John is the night before the competition, Richard will get a good nights rest while John will be up all night thinking of ways to beat him!

Yes agreed. Also Richards peak was at 305 Lbs I remember when he pulled the WPAA and weighed 210 Lbs . The lighter version had 0 chance at anytime versus John

Have you guys seen the videos of Mr. Lupkes on ArmTV? Amazing!!!! He did an exhibition with Scotty Norton, beating him 3 times in a row - fast. The only two that seemed to slow him in 1988 were Goodridge and Brzenk. "Slow" means he won in only about 2 seconds, as opposed to flashing them. Plus, I got a kick out of his pro wrestling stint... After seeing those videos, now I REALLY wonder what it could have been like... I'm glad he's back in the game now!

Did Lupkes ever compete in bodybuilding??
I've only seen the matches from the sitdown world championship, but Lupkes has insane 'hitpower'.

What I wanna know is what was their record against each other? The only matches I've seen between the two were when John Brzenk was still real young. How did it play out as they continued to battle?
