I too have stopped listening to most of todays new music. What happened to talent? The young musicians of today (most of them) keep trying to stretch the bar instead of raising it, that most of it just seems like crap. I graduated HS in 1979 and I remember Rock was Rock, Disco was Disco, R&B, Country Etc., was just what they said they were. I guess I'm stuck in my little music world. A/C D/C, metallica, Van Halen is the music I play when I want to get pumped up to work out. Other wise, I listen to the sports station.

Allen, good thing for you Ramstein is in german which kids can't understand, or it wouldn't be music for all ears. One of my friends loves translating german lyrics (Ramstein is his favorite band), there are some F-up lyrics that they write.
As for me Godsmack, Linkin Park, Disturbed, P.O.D., Evanescance, Linp Biskit, Kid Rock, Green Day, Korn, Nirvana, Metalica, Eminem, and ICP are all great musicians to get the blood flowing. Also any song of the Matrix soundtrack is good (love the techno).
To me Rap is music, it has a rythm, but I would never argue that the person is singing.
P.S. Steve, now that the music topic is going again Cris Comstock needs to get his butt on here to add some more knowledge to the crowd

I can only imagine what Rammstein is saying. Maybe some of our foreign pullers can help us out on that. Although I like a lot of the ones you listed, I cannot help but say that Godsmack, Eminem, and Limp Bizkit isn't anything you would want your children listening to (Some of their songs anyway). Also, I can't help but note that Eminem is not a musician (or does he play an instrument?). ;D Rap has rythm?

Ramstein in Germany is like Maralyn Manson in the USA for controversy.
The bands that I listed are the ones I would listen to while training if I wasn't concerned with little ears. There's no way I would play ICP within ears reach of children.

Allen, Eminem makes and produces music. He therefore is a musician. If you don't like him that's ok, I happen to like him but I understand that many people do not. He is still a musician whether we like him or not.
And rap does have rhythm. The whole concept of rap is based on rhythm.
Tony, Chris does need to get on this board, but he never will. I haven't the slightest clue why he won't though. And ICP is very funny music, I don't know if it would go very well with a workout though.
Techno goes great with a workout! It gets the energy level going

Steve, I actually like some of Eminem's stuff, moreso than any other rap star, but putting together a pre-recorded collaboration of soundbytes doesn't classify someone, not only in my mind, but in the industry as a whole, as a musician. I guess I am old school when labeling. Don't get me wrong, I see exactly what you are saying. Whenever I deem someone a musician I base it on the actual playing of a musical "instrument" (ie. guitar, drums, base, saxophone, etc., etc.) Whenver The Backstreet Boys, N 'Sync, Boyz 2 Men, ... (all the girly-boy groups) were big, the media always classified them as, "bands" or "musicians". None of them played an instrument (at least what they showed on videos), but instead they sang as a group, thus to be called a, "group". Take country music, some would think the Dixie Chicks would be looked upon as a, "group", but instead all three of them play an instrument. However, you could argue that a keyboard is the same thing, fundamentally, as what Eminem does with his collection of bytes and producing. In that you're right...he is a musician.

I got a word for what to call ALL "boy bands". Choir boys. That's all they are.

I agree with Joe "One" Is the best Song period! Metallica is my favorite! If there is a concert within 1000 miles I will be there! Disturbed, is usually whats playing in my headphones at a tournament. I also like Rammstein- it just sounds evil! "Heavier the better" ( As long as I can understand it!) And its also tough to beat "Eye of the tiger for motivation" My sirius radio is always on "Hair Nation" Good Topic! Shane Alger

I completely forgot about the intensity of the intro instrumental on, "For Whom the Bell Tolls" - Metallica!!!!!! Talking about consistent increase of adrenaline before any words start!!
