My favorite action film of all time, hands down, goes to First Blood and that movie is 23 +/- years old!
The Rundown is my close second (and I didn't even like The Rock until I saw it).
Biggest Disappointment: Alien vs. Predator. That movie was terrible. Predator teaming up with a human, come on! It made the Predator look like a putz.
Vic, you were right, Cellular was a surprise!

Alien vs. predator was a big dissapointment. It didnt really have much of a story and didnt really have anything to do with any of the past movies.
But then again predator was an absolutly pointless movie. The only cool part was arnold lifting the truck and jesse (may be wrong) mowing down the trees. Had no story either. theres a radio call of some guys not responding to base. they send in a team. they get slaughtered. arnold kills him finally THE END. the action was cool and it was awesome when i was a kid, but i watched it a few months and it really sucked.

I'm going to have to jump in on this one... seeing how Nancy is the only other female to comment as yet... Gotta love "Pirates of the Carribbean" and "A Knights' Tale" (thought they may be stupid, but had to watch them on flights enroute from armwrestling tournaments!) They are a couple of the "most watched" in my house! Chick flicks- "The Notebook" (another in-flight movie) "The Green Mile" Rocky Series-of course- all time greats. (Braveheart was too rough for me!) There are some others...but these came to mind (a bit early in the a.m. for me to think!)

I agree with Braveheart being a great movie. I embarrassed my wife while we were in Manhattan last year, acting like Mel Gibson. We were at a crosswalk and the light was red so we just had to stand there and wait. Well there must have been a couple of hundred people standing next to us and when you looked across the street at the hundreds of people waiting to cross, coming at us, I started doing the scene where he is trying to pump them up before the big battle. I started saying "We cannot let them take our land," etc. She got so red and the funny thing is that when you are in NY city, knowbody even blinks at stupid stuff. Just thought of it and wanted to share.

Braveheart was entertaining but very dissapointing once you realize that none of it was true... Look up William Wallace and you will see what I mean. It was supposed to be based on his life...
Rocky one was the best movie ever. The story of a guy who has been basically a loser his whole life (quitting on himself throughout) getting the one shot in his life to prove what he himself believed in his heart that he wasn't what he had become. Facing the mountain of Apollo Creed in the persona of an unbeatable, unrealistic goal, he trains harder than ever in his life casting away the demons of fear, he understands that it is not in the winning but in the staying the course...going the distance without giving up.
It is also realistic in that Apollo took him lightly where as Rocky went training crazy getting his body and mind in tune. The champ won but lost. The knockdown of Apollo in the first was a symbol...The many times Rocky went down and got back up was a symbol... Rocky standing at the end was the victory.
All other Rocky's were garbage money makers. Stallone sold out.

Some very good choices. Some interesting choices as well. I personally am a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, the Godfather Trilogy, Citizen Kane, Gone with the Wind, The Pawnbroker, American History X, Dr. Strangelove, The Shawshank Redemption, Braveheart and I loved the movie Ray as well.

Just bought Ray but havent watched it yet. American History X was a great movie. Primal Fear with Ed Norton was great too. I used to hold the Young Guns movies very high untill I found out that it was all based on myth and nothing in thsoe movies were how that all went down. Casino was great and Napoleon Dynamite was the best comedy I have ever seen! Saw was one of the better movies i have seen recently as well.
