I just recently invested in a new home theater. The Mitsubishi 52 inch DLP HDTV will be delivered on Tuesday and I just got the Panasonic 1000 watt, 5.1 surround sound system set up with a 5 disc DVD changer. I'm using a Monster power supply and Monster Cables!!! I love the sound, can't wait for the TV ! I was curious what setups some of the board members have...I know you guys can't be training all the time.

If you can, you should definately use Optical cables for all Dolby Digital audio sources (if your receiver has enough optical inputs). Less wires, less clutter (one very small black wire). The DLP tv definately sounds nice, but hopefully you didn't pay too much for your Monster Cables, as they are WAY over-priced. You can find equally-good cables on ebay for a fraction of the cost (especially all digital cables). When you get HD service, try to use a DVI or HDMI cable, not component. You should be able to get a good DVI cable on ebay for around $10, compared to the $100 they want at BestBuy and Radio Shack. Those are pure consumer rip-offs.
I have a 57-inch Sony HDTV, Sony 5.1 Dolby Digital DTS receiver, 150-watt powered Sony subwoofer, and 150-watt Sony & Pioneer front & rear speakers. We also have an Xbox hooked up with the HD pack and full Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. At some point I may upgrade to a new 6.1 or 7.1 channel receiver, but there are so few DVDs and TV broadcasts that use a 6.1 or 7.1 signal. I think as long as your system is DTS capable, then you will have a great system.

Kurt,
It does have DTS decoding. I prefer DTS to Dolby Digital if the DVD has the option. I remember Jurassic Park in DTS was light years better than the Dolby Digital version.

No, I won't pay crazy money for any game system. I will wait until the price drops. I also want to see what the PS3 has to offer, mostly to see if it will support HD DVDs.

I will wait until there is a clear winner in the HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray war.

Monster cables are one of the largest scams in the audio world. Not to mention poorly made speaker enclosures, weak passive crossover networks, and outrageous markups. Marketing voodoo runs very strong in the audio world, and as MECP installer and rep for a certain company (12V applications in my case), I see it daily.
With that being said, I have a pretty unimpressive stereo in my house.
