This is the new Dodge Challenger that will be available in 2008. I for one am already starting to save for this machine. Suprisingly it will be affordable much like the original. I guess they are saying that the car companies are trying to bring back the muscle car passion of the 60' & 70's. The specs for the R/T are. 370 hemi block 420hp 425tq 0-60 in 4.5 sec The Srt-8 is going to be a 3.4 sec car from what they say. All of this for around 25 thousand. You won't have to worry about them changing it much because this is the unveiled version and not the prior concept version. Start saving now. Forgett my wrx this is real american speed!!!!!

Also that year there will e the camaro, but they haven't nailed down what is going to make the showroom floor from the concept. Go check it out. Chris I restored my first car from 9-18 yrs old. It was a 72 ss 396 chevelle that my dad owned since back in the day. Even being a hevy man I am now moving over to the mopar side, since they are putting out so many great cars of late.

Just today I saw a Camaro concept that's supposed to be coming out in 2008 as well. It has the same body lines as the 67/68's and the recessed grill more like the '69. I only saw one pic shot from the front driver's side. I hope it's as good as that Challenger looks and sounds! That thing is really true to the design of the '69 through '72 style.

yeah its nice but they are going a little wide and long with the concept. not like i'm an expert or anything, but its 5 inches wider 9 inches longer. A camaro is not a cadilac. it will share the ls2 power plant if it makes the showroom floor. BIG IF

Matl'e, I must agree. The Camaro doesn't quite have the old muscle car feel like the Mustang and the new Challenger. The latter two are much closer to their heritage in how they are designed. They look much more like the cars they are styled after.
The Camaro is supposed to be styled after the '69 but it's not. I HAD one. This new one is all 67/68 body with a semi-69 recessed grill and round turn signals dropped below it. They also threw on the "shark gill" louvers in front of the rear wheels that only appeared on the '69. The tail lights look like somehting they took off of a '70 to '72, heated them up, and warped them.
True muscle car lovers have flocked to the Mustang. They will also flock to the Challenger.
The 'Vette-stlye drive train will be a big plus but the mix of styles with too much warped to look new will be a big turn-off.
I think the Camaro will flop.

Amen Ernie, Now thats a great thought out response for a message board. Yes thats what I was trying to put my finger on with the camaro. It has the potential, but with the blend of years that were special in each others way you are killing the beauty of each of those years. The 69 was an amzing car, but mostly is was not a thing of beauty. Rather it was more about speed with such models as the copo and the yenko. Its too bad that an american trans-am classic will never be the top car again. Chevy is missing what we loved about the car. Its soul...... a camaro had one heck of a soul, with its 327 up to its 427, it had soul and it could move. Don't mix a corvette powertrain and a camaro soul. It becomes a halfbreed that tarnishes its true beauty. Thanks again ernie for the insight.
