Royce Gracie has signed to fight current welterweight champion Matt Hughes ! They will fight in May UFC event. Do you think which wins ? I think that Matt Hughes will smash Royce Gracie by his punch in ground-position. ;D

I agree. Although I'm a huge fan of Royce. I do believe he was the right man at the right time. He showed he had the hart of a lion. I just think The guys today don't make as many mistakes as they did 6 or 10 years ago. while Royce is trying to get a submission hold Matt will wear him down with the ground and pound.

Royce in my opinion "was" the greatest full contact fighter of all time. Rules were changed (for the fans) because of him. Matt Hughes will defeat him.

I truly believe Royce will win.
Ever since Gracie left the ufc he has been fighting in japan against much heavier, stronger guys who have managed to get him down and still couldn't finish him. Matt Hughes is a great fighter, but remember 3 of his 4 losses has been by submission to smaller fighters. I agree Matt will get him down, Royce is slick on the ground and will avoid the punches and find the mistake for a submission victory.
Royce by tap out(triangle choke) 2nd round.
And in a huge surprise Jeremy Plaster and I actually agree on this fight....wonders never cease

I agree with John. I think Royce is underrated. Hughes will put Royce on his back and that is where Royce likes to fight and I think Royce could catch him in a submission easily. Its scary to think how much better Rickson was then Royce. Alot of people talk trash about Rickson but all the top fighters who have rolled with him said he is by far the greatest and no one is even close.

I think that Royce is great fighter now. But he doesn't fight in UFC for a long time. It is disadvantageous for Royce. IMO, Matt Style is better than Royce style in the octagonal cage.
And, Royce was bad condition in December 31. Royce fought hard against Tokoro in Japan. Results was even. Tokoro is wonderful fighter but his weight is only 144lbs...
I think that Matt Huhges, Royce Gracie, B.J. Penn are Top 3 in welterweight. I hope that this match winner will fight against BJ.

Royce won't stand a chance. The sport has evolved so far from the point where he was dominant. I give mad respect to him and Rorion for the inception of the UFC, but the odds against him are very high. Unless it's a ref stoppage due to strikes from the guard, it'll be a decision to Matt, win coming via positional advantage and agression.

The sport has evolved, but Royce has evolved with it.... to a point. When you go to japan and compete in pride you stepping into the ultimate stage for MMA. Americans are deaft to the fact that the UFC is small compared to the magnitude of Pride. The fighters are amazing, and they have a much deeper class, though the pro wrestlers are a side show of sorts. If you think that Royce cannot fight against the likes of Matt, all you have to do is go watch the Royce V.S. Sakuraba fight. Sak IMO is a far superior fighter to Matt with much more deadly strikes and can grapple with anyone on earth. Look at it this way.... Sak is a teacher at the worlds most premier Judokan academy and he had a hard time in throwing Royce in his gi. That right there to me shows a skill level that Matt has never seen the likes of before. Just my 2 cents

Sak mutilated Royce, it was an embarassment. Then Kazushi san let the success get to his head, drinking, not training, and Wanderlei squashed him 3 times. Sak is as much a player in the game now as Royce is, that is to say, they're not. They sell tickets, but by no means are they a threat to any contender in Pride FC. Pride and ADCC are top notch in the world of MMA and grappling events (Check out Roger Gracie, displacing Royler, Renzo, and Royce for top ground status in the family atm). UFC is a second rate symphony in the MMA world, anyone who's been participating or watching the scene for more than 5 years knows that. Reality TV makes it profitable and a spectacle, and makes a mockery of it.

are you kidding me, UFC would destroy Pride if they had a company vs company battle.
i would love to see huges against anybody from pride @ 170 lbs, or andrei arlovski against Mirko cro-cop.
seriously a plug named Rico Rodrigue's went in and dominated antonia rodrigo nogeuria.
I'd also love to see Liddle vs Wanderlai Silva.
obviously we'd use pride rules, which are a little more lienient than ufc's.
I'll give pride credit, their entertaining as hell to watch, but look at their roster, half the guys are guys that couldn't hack it in UFC.
ex. Mark Coleman, Wanderlai Silva, Gary Goodridge, Kevin Randleman, the list is endless.

The UFC is now a money making venture riding on the back of reality TV. Where did I, or anyone else for that matter, state that the UFC was never the tops in MMA fighting? As it sits now it's a dog and pony show pandering to the ignorant fan who thinks the knows MMA because he can rattle off the terminology used by Bas Rutten (Hah! What a joke) and Joe Roegan. Spare me. As for your "list", give me a break. Mark Coleman learned from getting beat down by Pete Williams amongst others and did well in the Pride FC tournament. Gary Goodridge has never been a great fighter, and if you think he was then you're delusional. He's explosive and entertaining and when he emerged he had little to no formal training. Wanderlei Silva is the top on the planet in his weight class and if you think otherwise then you're mistaken. As for Kevin Randleman, he was never very good.
