I can't not beleive that Mike Holmgrem is playing the REFS made us lose card.......
I just saw a show that had him giving a speech to his fans.....
Quote
I knew we were going to play a tough team in Pittsburgh..but i didn't know we were going to have to play the refs too
unquote
let me tell the Seahawks one or two things here...
for one.....not even the odds makers in Vegas thought Seattle had a chance...
i mean a #1 seed was underdogs to a #6 seed
it didn't matter how many bad calls were made the Steelers were gonna win.....
for a coach to cry that way has no class....i seen Holmgrem yelling at refs right s they were going into halftime locker-room.....he barely got through his interview...for gods sake... they were only down by 4 points.
the Steelers even gave the Hawks a TD... i mean 75 yds of that int ...you could thank the Steelers for....then quick TD...there you go...back in the game.....
heres a play by play
Hasselback drops back...hes got pressure...he throws...Ike Taylor intercepts...Taylors running it back...Hassleback makes the tackle....oh man thats a back breaker...
i will agree that the blocking below the knees call...may have been the only bad call in the game....but one 15 yard penalty doesn't change the outcome...i beleive an int in the closing moments of the game changed the outcome....
quit crying Seattle and face it......Everyone knew who was gonna win this game.....The Steelers.
Seattle would not have beaten any of the AFC teams in the playoffs...
1. Colts 2. Broncos 3. Bengals 4. Patriots 5. Jaguars 6. Steelers
I beleive this whole heartedly.
another play by play:
Stephens make sthe catch...he doesn't make it out of bounds ...the clock is ticking down.....
Hassleback drops back....he throws to Stephens...Stephens drops another one....
wow the refs didn't make Stephens drop more balls than he caught?

The ref made a judgement call....he may have blown it....it happens....we still would ahve gotten a FG...tied 3-3...we kinda won by 11

ITs all about momentum...............Goal line stop would probably equal at least one scoring drive...........

I will say this, I cannot recall seeing a championship level game where there were so many ticky tack infractions called all throughout the game, many were calls on critical plays that could not help but bring the officials to the forefront of conversations about this game, now I am not saying that they were pro one team or another they were just way too busy with the flags.

Todd,
Dude are you just saying stuff to get people worked up? Your comments make absolutely no sense bro. If those questionable calls went the right way it would of been a different game. I think Seattle would of won and you dont. No point arguing this but you have to atleast admit that it would of been a very very close game. Who cares what the oddmakers thought. Ive heard countless experts say Seattle was the better team and at a minimum every bit as good as pittsburg. How can you say they wouldnt of beaten any afc team when they played pitt much better then anyone else did? Cowherd said it best when he said the only people making statments like yours have mullets, drive firebirds to work in pittsburg and sleep in steelers pajamas.
Im man enough to admit that Pittsburg was the best team in the afc and I truly feel the top 2 teams in the nfl played in the superbowl. Im having a hard time telling if you actually believe what your saying or just trying to get some people worked up . . .

and if the pittsburg steelers are so much better then the seahawks you might want to check out the odds for who makes the superbowl next year. Looks like they changed thier minds after watching the superbowl. If your going to use that lame argument atleast be consistant. . .

There is a reason why you have to play the game because no one knows what will really happen.
Early on Seattle was moving the ball and Pitt was getting nothing done. Seattle could not close the deal, some penalties not called, some catches and Seattle would have been dominating the first half, then Pitt has to play catch up instead of getting to grind the smaller Seattle D, again I am not saying there was a conspiracy by the officials or that the game should have ended differently simply it seemed pretty obvious to me that Seattle could have won that game if they would have executed a bit more like themselves, but they did not or they were forced by Pitt not to, either way the game is played in a fashion so that the outcome is final, and so it is.

On Roths TD, I am having a real hard time with how the NFL determines what a touchdown is now a days, OK any part of the ball breaks the front line of the end zone, I’m with them there, you have gone the regulated amount of yards, no different than the tape in a foot race, it is dead on the 100M mark OK,
But now a guy can leave the ground at the 3 carrying the ball, fly through the air break the plane in the air, then lose the ball from a hit in the air after he breaks the front line of the plane and that is a fumble. Did he not break the plane?
Same guy leaves at the 3 with the ball breaks the plane gets knocked out of bounds, where he first makes contact with the ground and that is a touch down.
Same guy leaves at the 3 breaks the plane travels into the end zone untouched with the ground causing the fumble, (he is holding it extended) and that is a touchdown, but if a player dives for a first down in the open field and the ground causes it to come loose and no defensive player has touched him leading up to the contact with the ground that is a fumble. Yet when you go to receptions a WR can jump up from his route catch a ball well in the end zone, have possession past the plane in the end zone travel for 15 liner feet in the air, that motion carries him out of bounds and no TD, same scenario and he can get 1 foot down no TD, he can make contact with a player on the ground while in possession of the ball but not get 2 feet down and that is not a TD, he can catch a ball in the open field while up in the air, float through the nearest corner from the field to out of bounds past the plane of the end zone not get 2 feet down in play or in the end zone and that is not a touch down. There also used to be a rule they had where if a defensive player actually knocked the receiver in possession of an airborne catch out of bounds it is still a TD, I know don’t if that is still a rule or not, but that is smart D in my book.
I understand the difference between leaving the field of play in possession of the ball vs. catching it after you have left the ground but really within each version of passing and running TD’s they are just making this too complicated for no reason.

Seattle deserved to lose the game based solely on thier piss poor clock management during the game. Pathetic.
I believe that had the line ref called a no touchdown on the first whistle then it would have stayed a no touch down. The commentators even said that "in football history" this refs over turns the calls the least...so basically unless he had absolute proof that the football wasn't touching the line...then the call stays.
The angle was too far away and too grainy and shadowed to tell just exactly where the placement of the football was.
I firmly believe that it wasn't a touchdown but from a their "rules" point of view...you have to go with the call on the field.
but overall the play calling at the end of the first half was atrocious (in terms of time management). My god...are you kidding me.

as long as the refs don't screw it up for Seattle they might be 9-7 next year.
i'm the one fired up...i'm not trying to get anyone else....
my team won a championship because they played a better game...i'm sick of crybabies trying to bring the game to the refs....
and guys are talking about momentum swings...i feel as if a big play happens there would be a swing...
take note...when Seattle picked off Ben and ran it back....that was a huge swing in the game...it was almost 21-3 if the pass would have been 2 feet higher....you know what thats the breaks....and if our coaches would have been more conservative we would have lead the game 17-3...get the point...Seattle swung the game back to their favor...14-10....irregardless of bad ref calls....Hassleback when he had the oppertunity to pull his team past...to a possible 17-14 lead....he blew it...interception....you see they over came the callls but still didn't make the plays when they needed it.....shortly after that the Steelers drove the field and made a big play to finish off the Hawks....
it's like this ....true the calls are questionable?...they'll probably go down in history as the worst ref game ....but it doesn't stop the fact that the int happened...Hawks fell short...in a perfect world refs will make every call right....they blew a few......but it doesn't change the outcome of the game.....
drop passes....running game dismal....defense getting tired...refs can't control it all....the coach allowed the refs to control him and his coaching ability....
you wanna talk about how close this was to 21-3 or 17-3
it could have been worse than 21-10
the steelers cockiness and a bad pass allowed Seattle to stay in the game....i'm more mad about that than anything...with out Bens INT the Hawks were stuck
with 3
you're welcome Seattle!!!!
the offense of the Hawks couldn't move the football to a TD on their own...one measly FG.
watch the game again...you'll see two dismal offenses in the first half...then you'll see a tired Seahawks team in the second....you'll see big play after big play from the Steelers offense..where the Hawks struggled....Alexander was getting beat up...Hasselback was running for his friggin life.....
please watch it again.....if you need a copy i'll gladly send you one....
if i weren't a Steeler fan i'd feel the same....i've seen too many sore losers in my short time on this planet...
i'm a little peaved that class-less sore losers have to cry instead of saying Congrads....its just unsportsman.....
i'll gladly show you my mullet haircut.....lol
damn...and i have a real good pair of PJs that says Steelers on them....i don't drive a firebird...but i drive a sports car...Cowher did say it best....my opinion...my opinion only....i stand behind my opinion because i am a football fan....and crying refs lost the game for me is a cop-out.
we are the champions my freinds

Simon,
and on those rules...Stephens cathes a pass into his belly..gains control of the ball..turns around takes two steps with the ball...gets hit...ball pops lose...incomplete pass?? figure that one out.
Hassleback runs ..dives outstretched hand...with D player touching him while he's still a foot...but while on the ground...he fumbles....ho yeah...Steeler player touched him 5 yards ago....at least if he down by contact why was he allowed to dive for more yds..if i'm correct they even spotted his forward progress where he landed....noones talking about those calls

TK That was a fumble agreed. Again to my point a poorly officiated game all around and the NFL has some real problems with their rules. If the ref thought he saw the ball break the plane on Roths TD, fine that one I am OK with it is just how they choose to address the rest of the incidents I described in comparison throughout the year that I don't get, nothing to do with this game in particular. Steelers won and based upon the way they played vs the way Seattle played they should have.

Hell even i said at first when i seen Roth leaping towards the goal....crap he didn't make it...once the replay come up...i said to myself only one person could have seen it and thats the line judge....it was so close........there wasn't enough to over turn...
i'll go back to a game this season...Bucs vs Redskins reg season...Bucs score a TD score is 35-34....they attempt a FG...Skins jump offsides...half the distnce now...Bucs go for 2 pt conv....Alstott by a mere centimeter crosses the plain....Skins fans complained...even on replay it appeared as if his elbow touched first before the ball...still not over turned....i myself think the ball should break the color of the endzone rather that the front line myself but...rules are screwy.
i said on that one...if the ref called it then thats what it is....the bucs fans were argueing with the Skins fans.
my point was bad calls yes...change of outcome...no...
just a little upset...i waited 25 years for a championship...and it's questioned by refs calls.....
I think the Randle El play within itself was a big piece of history....it just seems as if it s all being overshadowed by the refs...

The funny thing is Pittsburg fans bitched all wk about the calls against them in the indy game and then seattle fans are pissed for getting screwed in the superbowl and they arent allowed to vent? Give me a break. Hasselbeck was running for his life? Seattles offensive line completely dominated the line of scrimage and I only saw one sack as the product of the famous blitzburg package. Ill say it again. Seattle didnt deserve to win because they missed thier oppurtunities to pull away and didnt regardless of the horrible officiating. Again no hard feelings and atleast your passionate about your team and I can repsect that, but I just disagree with ya.
9-7 next year? they are the favorites in vegas you you praised earlier and ahead of the steelers I might add. . .
