This version of Windows so far has been flawless. A bit different but flawless. I have found the command prompt pretty much still there albeit with additional command line offerings. I still havent investigated any registry replacement or the possibilty that the reason it no longer needs one being the object based archetecture. So far I have found everything to be pretty much like standard XP single click windows with slightly different options but pretty much the same but everything runs through the more advanced internet explorer 7 type windows with pathway listings as in .asp etc. In my opinion they spared no expense and brought in some of the best minds finishing this puppy up. Release candidate from just a matter of several months saying it had gone to crap and wouldnt be out until next year. Amazing! If I wasnt running graphic production line rambus rimm for memory though I doubt that 512mb would do. I am above the low water line using a P3 933 when they asked for an 800 or faster which I dont think that meant a celeron 800 with 100mhz front side bus. I am using 512 mb of Samsung PC800 dual channel Rdram which is very fast compared to any DDR2 even. The multiplers on the DDR and DDR2 are the only thing that speeds them up and much in the same comparison of SATA harddrives never owning up in comparison to SCSI drives utra 160 is the same. RDRAM runs 400mhz up one side and down the other simeltaneously which DDR has to wait one side or the other for passage. I didnt skimp much anyway on the drive . its a 40gb ata100 eide so even though nobody will be running a pentium 133 and 16mb of ram with this the system is built to run on what they now consider low end machines to a degree. The Operating system is using 10gigabytes of space basic installed with current updates.

I would recommend if anyone who already uses XP and likes it even if they dont there is also a classic mode in this version. Looks like a go to me. Now all I have to do is figure out how to use my MCP status to get at least a discount . I cant afford the technet sub or the msdn at 1800 a year. I have family whos companies by them though so we will see. Heck I just got my first official copy of windows 2003 server enterprise lol. It alone is a around a grand in ebay with 25clients.
Last but not least I am assuming as Matle said this system is running off the new version 6 TCP IP archetecture. I concur its smooth as owls poop. Anyone with a fairly decent machine can get an eval and install it but back up all your things to save. I never have that problem cause I have a terabyte =1000 gigabytes on one server and then a standard 250gb on two other machines here one of which is running Vista , windows 2003 RC2 server evaluation and windows 2000 standard server in a triboot configuration. It is funny the bootloader comes up with Vista to load on one line or gives me the option of booting to an older version of windows . Man they sure run that obseletion quick discounting their current premier release candidate 2 of server 2003 as an older version of windows when I have yet to see the product codnamed Longhorn finished and on the show room floor. out with the old in with the new and then cut off the updates as soon as the lawyers say no one in in position to sue lol.
Ok thats my findings so far. I will report back but I have to conquer the old before I actually dismantle this. Night, No I am not crazy just hooked like that Mcdaniels kid

screenshot of the performance monitor after setting to best performance. I am liking this more because it shows they are willing to add more and more previously only used in server app. anyway scope the link if you wish.
