whatever you choose prepare for....the size of tv to increase and price to drop 20 percent six months from now until eternity.
you'll feel better when you are cruising the streets of Best Buy next year.

True, but best buy is dropping them low right now for some reason... I have no idea why, but a buddy just bought a $4000 56in plasma and got it for $1700. Sorry I wish I could say why one was better than the other, but I'm not to hip on the TV tech stuff. I know that the plasma can be seen at extreme angles, but thats about it. Good luck though and enjoy watching games on it.

I own a 42 plasma... JMO but I think plasma has a sharper picture and warmer tone. But the LCDs do appear to have a more vibrant picture.. Also with the plasma you do have to contend with the heat aspect even though the newer plasmas do run cooler than the older ones..Also plasmas are more prone to image burn in.. I guess it comes down to what you're using them for..To watch regular TV and movies I like the plasma, but if you're gonna hook up video games then go with the LCD this way if you have to pause if for some reason it won't burn an image as easily...Also LCDs are easier to transport too. You always have to remember to keep a plasma upright or you'll screw it up bad, not so with the LCDs..

I use a 56 inch HD LCD in my theatre and a 36 HD LCD in my living room and the reason I went with it over Plasma is because the LCD is more reliable and easier to fix if anything goes wrong. I also think the pictures are no different for quality. A benefit for plasma is if you ever need a transfusion I figure you can plug the COAX into your arm...Just kidding
