That's supposed to be similar to some concepts behind speed reading as well - you don't read every word. I could never do it, though. Some friends claimed they could.
Not to spoil the fun, but...
Spelling isn't important to get your point across, but ask yourself if it makes any other kind of impression.... especially if someone sends you a resume... or if you're reading the website of a company you want a product from...
Or if you're balancing a checkbook...
