Retirement fund's hahahahahahahhah by the time i"m 65 in 41 years there will be no social security or canada pention as we call it up here............My retirement fund is the 100$/month i invest into my 9% mutal fund... Unless you have 10 times your gross salary in the RRSP at retirement, FORGET IT. RRSP's work against and reduce your CPP and OAS. At retirement, you are almost better off cashing out the RRSP and paying everything (mortgage, credit cards, loans and vehicles) off. rrsp.finance.sympatico.msn.ca/rrsp/article.aspx?cp-documentid=2703080

I agree with the sentiments of all of you from both sides of the border. I feel a lot of anger is misdirected at ethnic minorities though. Both our governments are guilty of incompetancy on this issue for sure and in reality are to blame. Our politicians and lawmakers are often an embarrasment to the average man they are supposed to represent.
We do have a problem with illegals in Canada, but not anywhere near as extensive as the U.S. has. Our good U.S. neighbors act as a buffer zone and absorb most of the land travelling illegals long before they get here. Not many make it all the way to our freezing waters in rafts or overloaded row boats either. Our coastal waters can be very uninviting. Most illegals come here on visitors visas and dissapear in Montreal, Toronto, or Vancouver. At least they tend to have some money when they come as it is a requirement to get the visitor Visa granted. You can not immigrate to Canada legally without a lot of money either. I do not begrudge the immigrant who has a bank loan and is running a buisiness, they work damn hard and have invested their life savings in their hopes and dreams just like the rest of us. I never assume they were given this on a silver platter, everything I see tells me the majority have earned it. In order to immigrate here as a familly of three or four, they must show enough money to live here from the outset so they don't strain our welfare system for at least a couple of years. After writing this stuff I am beginning to think maybe the government isn't doing to badly after all with this issue in Canada(hurts to admit that, I don't cut the buggers much slack at times).
Anyone that would condemn the immigrant hasn't looked into their own familly tree. There is a very strong possibility that your familly came here without proper paperwork. And look how great your familly turned out to be.
Ty, I do not know you, but I agree with your statements about Canada Pension Plan not being there for the future. I don't like the other statements you made regarding immigrants in general. You sound racist and uninformed. I hope that was not your intent! What knid of a name is Kissner anyway and how long ago did your people arrive on this continent?

"Bush wants us to cut the amount of gas we use. The best way to stop using so much gas is to deport 11 million illegal immigrants! That would be 11 million less people using our gas. The price of gas would come down. Bring our troops home from Iraq to guard the border. When they catch an illegal immigrant crossing the border, hand him a canteen, rifle and some ammo and ship him to Iraq. Tell him if he wants to come to America then he must serve a tour in the military. Give him a soldier's pay while he's there and tax him on it. After his tour, he will be allowed to become a citizen since he defended this country. He will also be registered to be taxed and be a legal patriot. This option will probably deter illegal immigration and provide a solution for the troops in Iraq and the aliens trying to make a better life for the emselves. If they refuse to serve, ship them to Iraq anyway, without the canteen, rifle or ammo. Problem solved. " George Carlin AMEN!

I don't like the other statements you made regarding immigrants in general. You sound racist and uninformed. I hope that was not your intent! What knid of a name is Kissner anyway and how long ago did your people arrive on this continent? To Mr Wrigley......Kissner is German derived from our original family name of Kessler (apparently they couldnt understand our heavy accent)....and my family has been in Canada since the mid 1880's..... as for being racist I'm far from it and I'm far from being uninformed but fact of the matter is anyone that comes to canada and clims refugee status is set up by the government at the expense of guess what, OUR tax dollars...You may be fine with it but i am not....you know why because they come here from their homelands get the government to set them up for life and then go and construct terrorist breeding camps (see Hezbolla incident outside toronto last year). So tim I'm sure we'll cross paths but lets be honest you live in Nova Scotia, great province probably the nicest province in Canada, but you dont know the urbanization world like we ontarians do no offence.....but last time i checked there was no ghetto in halifax when i was there unlike every major city in Ontario....If you dont believe me come visit toronto and go to jane street....or got to the west side of windsor ontario, the hood in bramton and misasauga.....there are so many areas in major ontario cities that are infested with drug dealers, crack addicts, criminals and you wanna know who makes up a good majority of these people those landed immigrants that claimed refugee status...... so next time you imply someone might be racist maybe pm them to find out where they are comming from......there was a reason why i posted what I did, maybe it was the last 2 years i've spent studyin sociology, criminology, issues in diversity and political sciense in college....but then again I may be uninformed.... you make a good point about having to have some money to get a visitor visa, but those were people were not refering to...I'm talkin about the ones claimng refugee status..they get to play by a whole different set of rules...

Mr.Kissner
We share the same heritage. Our name as well was switched from REGELE to WRIGLEY, a lot of german immigrants did not want to sound quite so german when they signed up to fight the Nazis. My familly came to Canada from the U.S. to Ontario.
I apologise for upsetting you, but I kind of expected it. I understand the sentiments and frustrations of the Americans who face a daily land assault of illegals by land due to a physical connection to south america. These people are arriving with no paperwork and the sneakers on their feet by the thousands. If I were an american, I would be upset as well. Our situation is not even vaguely similar IMO. We only have 30 million people or so in our entire country, if they could all be counted, they probably have that many illegals in the U.S. Yes we have illegals, but the meathods of entry are far more limited, and the effects not nearly as devastating.
The inner city ghettos and the drug problem! Go to areas that are not full of immigrants and you find a bunch of white Canadian dudes selling crack, meth and ecstasy. That problem is now universal and not even small towns are immune.
Just to let you know Ty, I travel extensivly and always have. Lived many years in Toronto and lived down town by Maple Leaf Gardens for five years. I have no need to have you tell me what these areas are about. I agree they are not something to be proud of.
I do not believe you are unimformed, and I do not believe you are racist. You probably have many friends of diverse cultural backgrounds. Would you read verbatum what you posted to them and their families, probably not.
I had thought of a PM to you, but I felt it important to present a sligtly different angle from yours. Yours was a public post and the statements you made were viewed by many. Your post made general statements concerning situations in our Country that may not be as you presented them. I guess it depends on your point of view. Your statements also are accompanied by a Canadian flag, as are mine. That to me is a significant factor. I only wish to let people see that the views of one may not be reflective of all. This is an international forum and I respect your right to speak your mind publicly. If I disagree with what you say publicly, it is my duty to speak up and say so.
With all due respect from a fellow canuck.

Tim i agree with you on a lot of what has been said, The Americans do have a bad situation i was just trying to show them that the good ol USA is not the only country affected by this crisis.... as for our country itself we are in a bad state, we both know that the Caucasian population has its hands tied and are in fact in the minority now.....Yes we have Caucasian leaders but most legislation is aimed at protecting the rights and freedoms of minority groups....Our government has not done us any favors over the past 10-15 years...Why do my parents who are pretty well off have to pay about 10-15 % of their income back to the government when the the family down he street who belongs to a minority group pay 3-5 % of their annual income even tho they are in the same tax bracket as my parents...Both families earn over 100 K/year....Is this fair ? Since my parents were born in Canada and worked hard to establish the family business while the family down the street are immigrants and had the government provide them with housing and money until the father found a decent paying job that they pay almost 4 times as much in income taxes because their white ? I guess what I'm saying is where are my breaks, everyone else is getting them but families like yours and mine Tim...am I bitter not really, are my feelings Justified, i believe so....I am glad i have to earn everything i have but sometimes its nice to feel like your playing on a level playing Field with others....... would I read it in verbatim to my Friends of ethnic differences ? Yes because they feel the same way...There is no problem coming to Canada to seek a new life, as long as your willing to work hard and establish yourself, but the ones that are abusing the system are the ones my original post was directed at.....It just happens those people are of ethnic differences.....Trust me I think the whole welfare system is a joke-show being abused by a majority of lazy, unmotivated white Canadian females.....they just believe the more kids they produce= More govt funding.. As for the drug issue it is rampant in most towns or cities however a good majority of dealers, users and producers are again of members belonging to minority gropus....Caucasians are no angels but we are also not the devil either... we are players in the drug game but most major players are people of ethnic differences....Look at the major gangs in canada..the Ha motorcycle gang is the only Caucasian group that is a major player the rest are ethnic groups....Hezbolla, Chinese Triads, Italian Mafia, aboriginal Gangs, eastern European Gangs.... check out this link if you don't believe me... www.statcan.ca/english/freepub/85-548-XIE/0019885-548-XIE.pdfAs for representing our thoughts you are right those were my thoughts at the time and maybe i wasn't sensitive to any possible readers in my post, It is your right to publish a response if you disagree with how i represented myself with a Canadian flag under my profile... there was never any hard feelings Tim, just differences of opinion all i was asking was that U don't judge until you hear both sides of the story, which you have done..... Nothing but respect Mr. Wrigley

What makes me mad is that I am discriminated against, for being a white, English speaking, heterosexual, Christian male. Because our spineless Canadian Government and most companies are being over politically correct, they have racial quotas to fill all new job positions.Check out the Richmond, BC Fire Department... www.nowpublic.com/richmond_fire_dept_white_men_need_not_apply By being non-discriminatory, they are discriminating. I think the best person qualified for the job, should get the job - REGARDLESS OF THEIR RACE, SEX, RELIGION, LANGUAGE OR SEXUAL ORIENTATION. I have no problems with any immigrants, that come here to work and contribute to society but leave your baggage (gangs and crime) at home. If you are a "refugee" or working immigrant and you are caught doing something criminal or if you are involved in street gangs - YOU SHOULD BE SENT BACK. If you are a minor, you and your parents should be sent back. I really is time for the politicians that we vote into office, represent what their constituents want, not what their party wants.

Asking someone whether they are part of a visible minority as part of any interview process is wrong. Years ago, I had the notion to join the RCMP and I was told that being a white male from Alberta, I needed to get over 90% to proceed to the next phase. Everybody "else" was allowed 70% and up, as a pass. I actually did pass but found out that during your 6+ months at Depot, you don't get paid and that it actually costs an average of $50,000 in expenses. With a wife, 2 children and a mortgage, it was too much. All in all, I don't hate anyone, but the establishment pisses me off with the PC crap. The best person for the job should be hired in ALL cases.

I would like to touch on all that has been said here, but I have limited time and will only address on what is below...for now. Guys, We are all, globally, surrounded by people who are rewarded by their ethnicity. People who get jobs when they clearly should not belong in those positions, are the very ones who are more likely to cause catastrophic accidents. I, in January of this year, applied and tested at a nuclear power plant (who advertises they are an, "Equal Affirmative Action Employer") for an operators position, since I have 16 years of CHEMICAL plant experience (something completely different, but the basic concepts are the same). At first I was told I was "not recommended" for the position, but after not receiving the official notification through the mail, I kept calling making sure there was not an oversight and didn't want to miss an interview if I was actually scheduled for one. The person whom I spoke with read that I was OVER QUALIFIED for the position! OVER QUALIFIED??!?!?! ...for a position I had never held before?! Well, after further seeking I found out why...they had to hire their quota of blacks and latinos. The black guy I took the test with, who was a Katrina victim, was only able to complete about 20% of each test and had to have the directions explained to him. He was the one they hired. Call me crazy, but if you cannot figure out how to color in the circle with a Number 2 pencil, then I don't care what color you are, or what background you come from, you should NOT have the position in a NUCLEAR POWER PLANT !!!The explanation I was given was either true as to their requirements, or they were shooting me a line of bull... With this said, I believe you should come to this country and go through the due-process of what everyone else had to do who are here LEGALLY, and should use each of those rungs of the ladder in which you should climb...and not the "teleporter" from 'Star-Trek'. And for the people who ARE here legally should be able to be educated enough to hold the position in which they are applying for!

Like i said earlier we caucasian's are the new Minoritiy...get used to it..I blame our soft society and their rights groups... Something I would like to add to this. There is currently a huge shortage of professionals (doctors, accountants and engineers) in Alberta and Western Canada in general. We don't have enough Canadian born people to fill these positions and the provinces aren't recognizing the immigrants credentials. If an immigrant is educated as a doctor or lawyer or engineer, there should be some sort of job-shadowing or OJT with a Canadian certified professional and let our professionals make the call as to who is equivalent and skilled. I believe that it's not right to make them work as taxi drivers, just because they weren't educated here. This needs to be fixed too.

You make a valid point Matthew, it is not fair they have to be taxi drivers when clearl they posses proper credentials.. as much as I love canada there are many flaws to our democratic system but i guess its our duty to learn to live with it.. Canada is a great country to live in but I just want to play on a level playing feild every once and a while...Is that too much to ask ?
