I mean come on! Don Imus said something he, JUST LIKE RAY NAGIN DID, shouldn't have said and he has apologized for it. Now before you think I condone him or his ways hear me out.
I don't like his show. Never have really given it much more than a few minutes at a time before not being able to palate anymore. I think he is only doing what others have done and it is now because of his comments towards young women who have accomplished something that one team bound to have done in the season.
I just finished watching the news conference with the team and I was sympathetic to them until the comment the coach made. Even though the team consists of 10 ladies, 2 of whom are white, she referred the anger from just the black girls of the team. All the while she was speaking of the unity of the team and how the color didn't matter, then, yet, she made that reference which completely omitted the white girls. Is that to say the white girls didn't play a part in their accomplishment? (I really don't think that is what her intent was, but see how it can be misconstrued?)
I look at it this way...day in and day out we are all faced with racism - like it or not. We as people, or a nation, should be big enough to let it roll off our backs like water on a duck's back, but some doesn't do that because they know if they create a stink they'll get "more" of what they are after. (whatever that is)
I grit my teeth everyday because of the racist comments blacks, latinos, or any other perceived minority is allowed to say and get away with and if a white person (that's right...didn't you know only white people are considered racist?) says anything then the whole world needs to rally against them.
Why does it bother me so much? Because I have been called a racist when it was not warranted. I have lost promotions and a job because of a false complaint and accusation from black guys. I have been confronted with it more than a lot of people would believe possible. Is it not possible for whites to be victims of racism?
Why is it OK for blacks to make comments in statements, songs, movies, PRIME-TIME TV SHOWS saying, "That pale ass cracker headed fool..." ,"Damn white boy!..." . Then have almost, not all, every movie have the word "nig ger" in it. They are allowed to call one another nig ger, but it not be racist because it is a "term of endearment"? Give me a break!
You see this society has come accustomed to feeling sorry for the blacks because of what happened to them 140+ years ago and this society thinks that if we accept everything they (blacks) say, it should be as something we (as whites) deserve due to their past. All I can say is, go read up on your history and you'll see it isn't as true as you were, and are boing told.
I am not here to speak about who was right then when slavery was around, but instead I'm here to voice my concern, anger, the loss of patience, and provide a suggested solution for this ongoing issue.
Stop having segregated factions and entities such as, BET, Ebony Magazine, JET, United Negro College Fund, NAACP, black colleges, Affirmative Action, and Black History Month. That is to just name a few off the top of my head.
Just by having these things is causing tension and I am starting to think that is the goal. Imagine if we had these similar entities!
What would happen? cady-barr the door!!!
Stop thinking everyone is against the blacks and remember the duck. If being black is so beautiful and grand, why are you guys portraying it not to be?
Don't come in saying I have no feelings towards this issue. I do. And believe it or not, they are sympathetic ones. A lot of you may have never experienced racism so don't bash me on it until you have dealt with it personally. I really would like to see a solution to this.
