is there "proof" that an ice age ever occured to begin with?
They claim the ice age was millions of billions of years ago.
there has been much debate on this board about the age of the earth and evolution and scientific dating methods.
I say one thing, other say something different.......i believe what i believe is fact, and they belive what they belive is fact......fact isnt reliant upon who believes something.....it either is or isnt.
I say you cant prove that the earth is any certain age. the dating methods are flawed.
You say i cant trust the bible.
Neither argument is settled simply because one says so.
The poiint is.....you cant prove there ever was an ice age.
Many say the mississippi river was cause by a glacier from the ice age......i say water is powerful.......especially if the whole worldwas flooded
i would agree, that it is possible that during the flood of noah if the earth was covered in water that in that short time period there couldve been extremly cold temperatures.....thats as far as i would go.

You're an interesting fellow, Mr. Thames! Can one prove that an ice cube ever existed within a glass, say 7 days later? A year later? It's not obvious to most. But I suspect there are some relatively straightforward ways to deduce this, based on physical things like patterns of the residue as the liquid front evaporated. I imagine that geologists are able to make sophisticated deductions about what caused the topography of the land, as well. However, I don't know that proving/disproving an ice age really matters either! Would its proof dismiss what you believe true based on what is in the Bible? I don't think so. Does the Bible imply no such ages existed? Nope. You make 2 good points above - there is a reality, and no argument about that reality is settled. Nor will it ever be. Nor do I personally wish it to be. If it were, what fun would it be to discuss things like this (or things like peas versus okra) on an armwrestling message board as we are? You'll be glad to know I did get my lawn mowed yesterday! edit: maybe I do believe global warming is having epic impact - it's freakin' hot here today, and i don't want to go work in the yard...

I like it hot rather than cold anyway!!!
I'm not as smart as Bob, so I'm not going to try and BS anyone.

But can you really prove it was there on a worldwide Scale. An ice cube in a glass is a lot smaller than an ice age? an there isn't a glass with sides to show a pattern. I've always heard theories of there being evidence of a mass flood. An it's pretty cool how say for instance non-christians in Africa still have a story about a flood a long time ago even if it doesn't include God. Everyone says everything has to be logical well that was logical to people back then that was their history and they lived back then so I would think they would tend to know more about there present time than we can just wonder about.

Bob's not smart - he just writes too much... BTW, I wasn't comparing an ice cube to an ice age. I was pointing out the importance of being informed enough about a problem to identify details that matter, rather than too quickly concluding without the right data, or without being able to interpret the data. I.e. I leave it to the experts. Just as I do with armwrestling advice!

If the earth wasnt flooded how do you explain the underwater cities they find the past? Could not all the dinosaurs been destroyed in the flood? Genesis 6 verse 4 says THERE WERE GIANTS IN THE EARTH IN THOSE DAYS what does that mean? Acording to the bible god put the rainbow in the sky after the great flood as a covenant that he would never destroy the earth again by flood.

The earth wasnt 70% covered by water before the flood in my opinion. When the waters receded it froze at the poles.

bob "leaving it to the experts" is like playing russian roullette....except with correct spelling...lol
who says they are "experts"
If the information they studied to become "experts" is faulty.....then they are no more intelligent or educated than the rest of us.
when theories of so called experts conflict with the teachings of the bible. And they are required to teach it to our children in school. and denied an alternative......then we must seek the truth for ourselves.
Robert, I agree that most of the dinos were destroyed in the flood.
Scientist say man and dinosaurs didnt live together......well me... other than a zoo, ive never seen an elephant.....and if i died and 10000 yrs later they never found an elephant whose to say i ever lived at the same time as an elephant.
We do not live in the same region as the elephants.
But it makes you wonder, about those stories about dragons and knights.......lock ness...stuff like that.
There are more stories of dragons....from different cultures and countries, than there are "proofs" that we didnt live with dinos
With evidence present you must conclude that it is more likley that we did than didnt. and that is possible.
here is a scenario for you:
There are jungles in africa that noone has explored.....there are several sightings of a 30ft long neck reptile......sightings from two different tribes that do not communicate because they are on opposite sides of the jungle and have noway of communicating claim to have seen the same creature with the same describtion....one witness was even a military officer.
This is 2 eye witnesses......is there any proof that this creature doesnt exist....other than what we were taught in high school?......can you honestly say that it isnt possible?

Ok folks this is it.... Global Warming is REAL. I work on a oil rig and we drill on the DJ basin in Colorado. If you take a walk and look at the ground the dirt is dry not much as far as life but if you go down 7,200 ft under your feet there was a Forest. Global Warming is just the way things work, it's natural ... Do we play a part in Global Warming Some but its a small part in the big picture. I think we have a moral responsibilities to live life in the best way we can. Solar, Wind, Water, so on are great alternatives. But FEAR = Money$$$ to your ABC,NBC, and yes even FOX so keep that in mind

Alternatively, you can just ask Allen why okra is categorized as mucilage, and whether a warmer crust might make for an easier-to-digest variety. The answer here is likely just as complicated, and likely just as interesting. The delivery of that message, though, will surely be entertaining! AND My opinion is that unless we are more certain: (i) of what the consequences are, and (ii) that we can proactively do something to curb it, it is best left as pleasant (!) conversation over beer and okra (or wine and peas)... Or, in Allen's case, over okra juice. You sure it's not warm down there Allen!?!? Bob, your ill attempt of blandishment has fallen short. To categorize okra is to only insult its uniqueness. The class of okra is in its prime and does not need to be defended nor does it deserve such disrespect as you Pea-ons have given it. Okra is, and has been, a class to be named in singular and plural form by the same enunciation, unlike pea(s). As much as that did not make sense here is my opinion on global warming... Anyway, global warming is a hoax, IMO, and it makes one think why there is more ice at the South Pole than the North. Wouldn¡¦t stand to reason that when the water was about to drip off from the bottom of the Earth, into space, it froze? Bob, Allen must be stuck in the mud somewhere!!!! I have one thing to say to you Justin, which is your favorite saying: "How now brown cow¨ Talking about one being stuck in the mud!!! You could change it to: "How is it now brown cow?" LOL !!!!! HI JUSTIN!!!!!!! If the information they studied to become "experts" is faulty.....then they are no more intelligent or educated than the rest of us. That is what I have been trying to tell you, Ryan for SO long on another subject!!!

Thank God you're here, Allen! Now I know why there is a 10,000 mile tall icicle growing/hanging directly at the South Pole! Sorta makes the planet look like a big ol' Charms Pop! I finally saw Hannity's show.......... So.... how do you feel about James Carville?!?

Russell......i dont get the relevance of dry dirt........i have dry dirt at home. were almost 50% of louisiana is marsh or swamp i have dry dirt....whats the point? Infact i drive 18wlrs through LA miss and AL....they all have dry dirt... Allen....your funed. i never claimed to be an expert in that department. But when a man who has been there and done that teaches you its totally different from a man who thinks this and thinks that teaching you. your comparing apples to oranges my friend
