Would have made a great fight when both were at their best. Holmes would have kept Tyson off by not focusing on Tyson's head who slipped punches beautifully in his prime. He would have started with jabs to the chest, when Tyson would get inside he would have used his shoulder to bump him back or tied him up. I like Holmes with a late round stoppage.

Good point sir: TYSON KO 4th. ---No Disrespect Bill ---i'm just a Tyson fan. BTW- I was the one that lost a shirt to Mark also last year. So really what do I know?

Tyson by KO early. I love Holmes, and he was the greater champion, but Tyson would always be a bad match for him. He's a lot faster and throws way more punches than Shavers, or Snipes, both hurt Holmes.
I know Holmes was past his prime when they fought, but not that far, and it wasn't even close. Until then, Holmes had never been knocked out. It wasn't a TKO due to age, Holmes chin could not handle Tyson's power and I don't think youth would have helped.

good point Casey....but what if Tyson faced a younger Holmes...prime vs prime??...Tysons aggressive style may have too much for many boxers.

Todd, I definitely meant prime vs prime. I was just contrasting their fighting styles and used the later fight as a reference to Tyson being a lot different than Shavers, Snipes, also Carl the Truth Williams. All of them hurt, but couldn't KO Holmes. Tyson knocked him the *%$ out.
Holmes is the most underrated champion ever, but I still think a 20 year old 216 lb Tyson gives him a beating.
I don't believe that Holmes was that much past his prime at that time, hell he was still good against Butterbean in his fifties.

All those heavyweights were big fighters. Heck you forgot to mention Gerry Cooney who dang near runnied him for life with that low blow. I don't think Tyson could have taken the punishment that Larry would have put on him.

Carey - No disrespect taken :-) Tyson could swat and always had a punchers chance.
Casey - No disrespect, I think that Holmes would have avoided Tyson with his jab for at least the first 4 rounds. By that time, Tyson would be swelling and would eventually quit if he wasn't knocked out. Also, I think Holmes was at least 4 years past his prime vs Tyson. Geez he was 39 or so when he fought Tyson (I think).
Mark - You are not poking fun at my local by Gerry are ya ;-)
