Mark you're right. I missed that one, not really thinking of it at the same level of Hearns or Hagler, more like a Benitez, but you are definitely right.

I hope Oscar wins as Maywether has a big mouth. I thought that Oscar won the Tito fight (even though he ran) and won the 2nd Mosley fight.
<Side note rant> Leonard also got the decision against Hagler, but I think he lost that fight. He admited to playing pitty-pat for the last minute of every round. I used to be a big Leonard fan until that fight. <end rant>

Bill, You sound like a Hagler fan. Did you watch it live? I saw it live on Closed Circuit at the west palm beach auditorium. I was a huge Leonard fan and also loved Hagler, but my heart was with Sugar Ray that night. From my perspective watching it live, it seemed like Ray was about to be brutalized each round, but somehow found a way to win what seemed like at the time every round. I guess my adrenaline clouded my judgment that night. Man that was awesome! Saw Halger vs Hearns at the same place. Still one of the best fights I've ever seen. Give Leonard some credit even if you didn't like the decision. I think most people forget what he really accomplished. He didn't just defeat Hagler, he came back after about 5 years and jumped 2 weight classes and beat the most feared champion around. I don't know why a bigger deal wasn't made about the weigh classes.

Hagler vs Hearns was the best fight as far as action that ive seen. They gave Leonard a win over Hearns that he didnt deserve.

Robert, Leonard stopped Hearns in their first fight. The second was a draw.

Carey, Personally, I thought he beat Tito, but didn't like him running away at the end. I also thought he beat Mosley both times, but they could have went either way. And I thought he was about even with Hopkins until he got caught with a perfect body shot. Unfortunately, that makes him 0 and 4 in his super-fights. . Right on the point. I still think OSCAR wins this fight because he is focused and knows how to prepare for big fights and has been in them longer than JR.

Action from start to finish. Not to get off the subject another fav of mine was Ray "BOOM BOOM" Mancini (spelling)

I guess my adrenaline clouded my judgment that night. Man that was awesome! Live - No, closed circut like you. Believe it or not, it was the first fight that I could not decide as I was a HUGE Hagler fan (who I modeled my own style on) and a HUGE Leonard fan for making cry baby, I mean Duran - quit in the middle of a fight. I was actually relieved (for Leonard) and frustrated (for Hagler) at the end of every round. At the end of the fight I knew in my heart that Hagler had won. Though I felt bad for Leonard, I was glad for Hagler. When the decision came out, I was disgusted and never rooted for Leonard again. I hate pitty pat round stealers. That was all he did. I did not feel that Hagler was ever in trouble. I thought Leonard could go in any round. To his credit, he did not. Leonard was great, no doubt.

Man there is some bad blood brewing between these two. Oscar sent Floyd senior a ticket so he can watch the fight!! Oscar appears to be in the best shape of his carer. He is going to need it. I am hoping for 12 brutal rounds of great boxing.
When I watched Hagler-Leonard on closed circut I thought Hagler got robbed. Watching the replay I could see why the judges gave Leonard some of the rounds they did.

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Floyd Mayweather Jr. wanted to give Oscar De La Hoya a beating. He had to settle for just getting a win.
Mayweather won one of boxing's richest fights ever Saturday night by using his superb defensive skills and superior speed to take a 12-round split decision and win the WBC 154-pound title in his first fight at that weight. The fight was billed as one that would save boxing, and while it didn't do that, it was an entertaining battle between two proud champions who fought hard from the opening bell through the end of the final round.
The fight ended with the sellout crowd on its feet roaring and two fighters trading punches wildly at the final bell. They then stopped and embraced each other.
Mayweather was favored on one scorecard 116-112 and 115-113 on a second. De La Hoya was ahead 115-113 on the third scorecard. The Associated Press had Mayweather winning 116-112.
In the end, Mayweather was simply faster and more slippery in a bout where neither fighter managed to hurt the other and neither went down.

All in All it was one hell of fight. Do i think Oscar got screwed?? No...Floyd countered good to some of Oscar's shot and picked up points on some good jabs. Its sad when the judges settle the score because you know someone going to feel robbed. Good Fight I'd pay to see it again.
