Robert Bishop,
People who pray to Mary or other saints are praying for intercession. Mary clearly leads more people to Jesus than any other saint. The saints in turn pray to Jesus on your behalf. The saints are the people who fought the good fight and are eternal companions of Jesus in the kingdom.
You know from scripture that God is the God of the living. He is also refereed to as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob ARE NOT DEAD, but live forever with Jesus in the kingdom!!! What insane reason would you have to not ask them to plead your case for you directly to Jesus? They have his ear.
The standard reply is why not go directly to Jesus? There is no reason. We all go directly to Jesus. That's the best place to go!!! Many people have a deep affection for Abraham, Mary, Joseph, etc., for their GREAT roles in salvation history. Jesus has been known to pour out many graces to those who love his great saints. Love for the saints of old is one of the fruits of faith that Ryan refers to in one of his posts.
If you are looking for a role model for you and your children, pick one of the saints of old. You will bring more joy to the risen Lord than you can possibly imagine.
God bless, Bob

I think this poll is the stupidest thing I have read to date on this board, that's all I will say on the subject. Guess not, one more thing.... Why is it that when someone has a particular belief they are attacked right away by these "holier than though types" I guess I don't get it!!! I believe what I believe and I will not criticise anyone for their beliefs!!!(religiously anyways)

I certainly have respect for mary and the "saints" of old, but i will never pray to them.
Yes there spirit is alive in heaven...but they are dead in physical....and the bible speaks directly against necromancy

A person's religion is such a sensitive subject. But, as a whole, this great nation isn't as great as it used to be, because not enough people think about God as before. Ask anyone 50 or over what the greatest crime you could have committed in the 1950's or 60's...No one would have said rape. No one would have said a home invasion with a killing. They would have almost exclusively said the killing of an unborn human!!! Now as a country, we kill approximately 4,500 per day, or 1.6 million per year. What happened to us?
We are well on our way to becoming a pagan nation. For anyone out there who knows history, please tell what ultimately happens to pagan civilizations. Listen...the Twin Towers event was a terrible thing for us all. We all felt it deeply....VERY SAD!! But the people out there who know history can testify to you that the Twin Towers getting hit was only the beginning. Osama bin Ladan claims not to hate Jews or Christians. He abhors pagans. And all he really knows about this country is what he sees on TV. Scarey. My understanding is that Osama has the authorizations from the Mullas(sp) to kill 10,000,000 Americans.
There is one thing we can all agree on...that can't happen unless God allows it. Let's not give him any more reasons to allow it.
Ryan, in the Old Testament, the northern kingdom of the Hebrew people got exiled first because they became worshipers of idols and practiced human sacrifices, etc. They forgot the true God of Israel. Judah could have paid attention, but chose not to. They also got exiled in a terrible blood bath. I have always felt in my heart that the United States of America was the modern day land of milk and honey. Our God fearing founding fathers who were Protestant( I'm a Catholic who really appreciates our Protestant founding fathers) built up this nation on principals in the bible. In many ways, this nation was God's model of justice for all the world to see.
No religion is perfect because the people in it mess it up.
Let's all learn to love, and that begins with the defenseless...the unborn, old, sick, handicapped, homeless, etc.
Loving your family only is not love. Thugs love their mothers. That doesn't make you a hero. If you want to be someone in this life, find Jesus in the defenseless! See His eyes in their eyes.
God bless,
Bob

Ryan, necromancy is praying to the dead. God is the God of the living. God is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Praying to the saints is praying to the living! Hope you can find this truth in your heart.
In the Love of Jesus,
Bob

Ryan....I'm not a religious person, but let me tell you something first and foremost...I have a lot of friends that ae mormons.....and correct me if I'm wrong but they are a form of Christianinity......what the hell would you post this for? You attack anyone once they start on your baby jesus preaching ass.....but you'll go ahead and attack the religion of mormons? What cause a long time ago they went ahead and had multiple wives? or how ever the myth goes......sh!t multiple wives is better than the preacher of your church getting arrested multiple times for picking up hookers, and I'm not talking about armwrestlers either!!!!! You stepped into a great arguing ball park with me now.....no religion talk needed.....you just showed that your a stuborn prick who disrespects all religions but your own......LETS ROCK!!!! So were your grandparents friends with hitler or just served with him?
