I just want to say that the 9 hero's who lost their lives in a south carolina building fire are the best men humanity can offer. and our thoughts and prayers go out to their familys.
Pleas also think of the four R.C.M.P who were guned down and the OPP oficer who was shot recently shot recently
And God bless our Troops on both sides of our Boarder. Fighting overseas.
P.S And if You don't believe in the war's Iraq/Afganistan that's your right. However check out today's news reference new Taliban troops prepared to come suicide missions in Canadian, U.S cities. And Maybe you'll understand that it takes special people to keep our street, Home and place of work safe.
And good luck to 3 R.C.R. on the up comming mission in Kandahar
Grippler out!

I don't mean to demean the canadian soldiers, but a quick check of CNN shows that 14 U.S. soldiers have died in the past 48 hours. It's going to be hard for those canadian soldiers to get any attention in the U.S. media when there has been such a loss of American life at the same time. I hope you can understand that. The loss of any allied life is upsetting to me, though...whether it be American, British, Canadian, or any other country involved over there.
Having said that, war is war, and losses must be expected.
And yes, those firefighters are to be commended. What a horrific loss of life.

And that's the very point of it all 14 american soilders 2 britsh 3 canadian all died yesterday. And they all made headlines here. That's a fact. were conceared about you the brits and allied forces. I don't believe them same can be said down their?
. My cousin spent 14 months in Iraq with the marine core as a cobat engineer. at the same time I was in afganistan with Para coy. a month or so into it their had been a mine strike my platoon lost 2 men and 1 wounded. when watching CNN we noticed they had mentioned the loss of Canadian troops. then finally we felt like ok were on the same team let's rock en get's some. however political climate changed and all of a sudden boarder security was the issue and Canada was demmed a threat due to lack of appropriate sceening and potential for harbouring terrorist. "Trust me that may be true but you have no less in your country". After that we became just another statistic not worth putting on the air.
Our Country is finnally understanding that it needs a better Army and steps are in place to see that a substatial increase will occure. However the U.S. perseption around the world is not great and beleive it or not Canada is. We are loosing some respect due to us assumeing similar foereing policy.for the sake of good relations with our brothers fom the south it was deemed nessesary.
This is from my point of veiw only and i welcome any of you to comment.

I'm not sure how to say this, so I guess I'll just go for broke. I can't stand the media. They think it's their choice as to what's worth reporting and not reporting, rather than conveying objective information and allowing the viewer to make their own opinions. In this country alone there are two extreme media outlets, one on each side of the political fence. Neither is "fair and balanced", even though it makes for a catchy slogan. Like any other television show, the news is nothing but filler for the commercials. The more viewers the filler can draw, the more money the commercials are worth. As a Canadian, you should not be offended when the media ignores your country. It simply doesn't get ratings, and that's what the news is all about nowadays.

Hey Grippler, my mother's Canadian...There are probably just as many people of Canadian descent in the US as in Canada. And I have heard of many US people(of many different nationalities) moving to Canada for good. I don't know of any US citizen that really looks at a Canadian as a foreigner. A lot of Canadians do not have French accents. Of those that do, we don't assume that they didn't come from Maine.
No one on the street here distinguishes from Canadian to American. I wish our borders could have been left wide open forever. But this world has gotten dangerous. Tight borders gives both sides more chances of apprehending terrorists, and both sides already have, GOING IN EITHER DIRECTION.
The major news networks do not represent America anyhow. What they choose to put on or not put on is just sad sometimes. Some are better than others though. Shop around if you want to watch American news networks. Canadian life, US citizen life, Iraqi life, what's the difference. People need to respect all life.
As far as the Canadian armed forces, the stronger they are, the better off the US and Canada are. The stronger the US military is, the better off the US and Canada are. No brainer, huh?
Osama Bin Laden is judging the US based on our television. Based on the crap that we have on TV here, he believes this is a pagan nation, with no moral value. If he knew the truth that most people were monotheistic, but living in a secular society where talking about God is scorned, maybe he would give us a break with this holy war stuff. Religious people feel repressed here now. Sad, huh? Is it any wonder they don't keep track of all allied deaths?A large part of the power in news organizations in the US are ultra liberal, rabid pro abortion , militant anti organized religion types(pompous asses that can't be told by God how to live) Disclaimer: NOT ALL NEWS ORGANIZATIONS
The same people you suspect of not caring for Canadian deaths don't care about the murder of 1.6 million unborn babies in the US per year.
Sincerely,
A fellow North American,
Bob

Bob! Well said fellow North American we have something in common. Our mothers are from the other Country that we were born in? Did that make sense? Anyway I havent lived in the states since I was young. But while I was here whenever i heard bad talk about the states I was allway's at it's defence. it was only recently ( Around when Bush was Elected the second time) You know the saying Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me! I was conviced that when Bush was realected that the entire country must of been labodimzed. I felt that he was elected out of spite for the rest of the world. My aunt who lives in dinwiddy county VA cried for 2 day's when he got in again. Their were rallies around the world pleading for the U.S to elect a new President. Did that make CNN? anyway I think the world excluding Canada because it seems Priminister Harper was an illiginamate son of Bush senior. felt like it was an act of war! by keeping him in Office.
My Oppinion Only!
Grippler Out!

"The families are well aware that there is debate on this mission. Nonetheless, at this particular point in time, the most sensitive and, I think, mature approach, would be to show them ... love and support. These soldiers died in a mission that they believed in, and saw progress occurring." - Col. Jon Vance
On behalf of America and all allies to the civilized world, we thank these soldiers for their sacrifice and our prayers are with their families.
