Long overdue, really. Our society has spent too much of its brainpower on making a better cell phone or video game system and not enough time on things like this. Is it unbelievable? Absolutely not. Before fossil fuels were an everyday thing, it would've been laughable that we'd use dinosaur remains to fuel our world.

Save your money.
Any competent machinist could build a carburetor in their garage. How come after hearing about these Super carbs for the last 30 years I have never ever seen 1 working prototype?
Give me a sketch of 1, and I'll build it for you.
The efficiency of current gasoline and diesel engines is in the 40-55% range.
A 4-5 fold increase in efficiency is what ? 160 - 275 % efficiency ? That means you actually create fuel as you drive. The longer you drive, the more fuel you have in your tank.
The low efficiency of internal combustion engines is due to the large amounts of heat (energy) that is wasted. The engines lose energy through the hot exhaust gas, the radiators, the oil coolers etc. The easiest path to higher efficiency would be to harness this wasted energy, not messing with the fuel systems which have undergone nearly 100 years of refinement.

You're just jealous that you didn't think of it.

I have seen on the news a nation wide competition where high school kids were trying to achieve 1000 miles to the gallon in a little model car. There was a winner. I tried to find it on the internet. I could not but I did find some interesting stuff. Type, "1000 miles per gallon" into the Google search engine and read-on. AND for the record Todd, In the bar business we always say "that the best ideas are all stolen" lol

Vonnegut knew that a long time ago. He wrote "The Sirens of Titan" in what, the '60s?
