I think this one fits into my schedule. I am 50/50, but I have that itch to compete...

Hi Josh, congrats on your victories. I haven't had time to spend on the board lately, but I saw the rankings and I was curious if you could beat Klemba left handed. If so, double congrats!!!

Nelson's an interesting character in the sport. He's good for the show, and in the end, maybe will get new folks in that would like to come into the sport and try to beat him.

I might go since there will be no CT States this year. Who else is planning on going?

I remember going up to Canada 25 years ago, because they were giving out top notch belt buckles. I won both arms in the supers. They had one on hand for viewing, and said they were having them made up, and said they would mail them to me! Never did get them, but they were very nice, with a set of arms in the middle. Damn! It would have been nice to get them!!! I would go with medals for all classes with a jacket or hoodie as an additional prize for first in the open classes.

I'll take a shot at CT:
Right: 1. Tim Bresnan 2. Mike Selearis 3. a toss up between Frank Hirst, Ron Ermini, and Ron Klemba. Frank is a heavier weight class, so it's hard to say he is "better" than Klemba who is a multiple time World Champ. Josh Stark is retired, for now anyhow....so I didn't include him.
Left: 1. Mike Selearis 2. Ron Klemba 3. Ron Ermini Cory Bresnan and Frank Hirst could be in there as well. When Cory trains on a steady basis, he gains like crazy. Last I heard, a job interferes with training a bit. One last note: Ermini quit smoking....the last time he did that, he won a 12 man super match in Colorado, both right and left handed. In practice, he feels 50% stronger to me. Also, he trained with Klemba and Bresnan for a few months in the spring...just enough to make revisions in his pulling style. I see Ermini climbing.

If you train every week, that alone helps you to focus on the technical aspects of the game. Focus on the hands, and try to concentrate on what your opponent is trying to do. That will get your mind off silly stuff.
The silly stuff is worrying about whether you will win or not. Your opponents also train. You and they will have good days and bad days. When they win, feel good for them. When you win, feel good for yourself. Winning arm wrestling matches won't get you to Heaven.....it's just a sport.
As far as people staring at you, it's normal for humans to check each other out...to see how the training is going, or perhaps even sexual attraction. It's normal, it happens every day...get used to it...it doesn't matter what someone thinks of you. What matters is how you conduct yourself....that's what people will remember. The most beloved folks in the sport are the most gracious, John Brzenk being a perfect example.

Connecticut States always gets a great turnout...the weather out doors stinks and it's central to the 8 states that came. I got a chance to pull Mike and Dan after the tournament...they are tough!!!

John Brzenk showed the world how to beat Mike not to long ago. Now this is much easier said than done. John didn't on the other hand have a solution for Jerry. I think Jerry wins in hard fought battles. Jerry is fast, strong, and has good stamina. Its a VERY different Mike right now Kyle. TRUST ME you'd have to be there I have wanted to do that Match in ARM WARS many times & would still love to. I know Mike will Pull ANYONE & I don't think Jerry scares easy BUT I haven't been able to make it happen YET. Well, it sure sounds like a perfect match up....one where the winner cannot be predicted so easily. I'd have to see Jerry get beat to believe it, but your opinion makes me less sure.

It's guys like Breznk and Bath that have flopped him back in the past, making him look like he has no hand. Unless you are one of the elite, Jerry can toproll you.

Bresnan, Klemba, Jon Brown, and Cory hit just about all tournaments. I bet they could rank the NE fairly well.

Ron Ermini will also be there....likely pulling 198, if he can make 198....otherwise, 220's right and left....
